Wow Taxi - you've been busy challenging yourself today - great idea to clear those debts - will be a great boost for you too. I bet you will get to below £35000 - you do things you put your mind to and very quick as well!!

Thanks Sea...I may hit that 35k by christmas...I haven't worked it out yet ...it will boost my confidence if I do...I do things as quick as I possibly can as I never know from one day to the next what I'm going to earn..so pay as much as I can when I can...jan can be very quiet...
It's very annoying as I have over £700 owed to us by the tax man and tax credits have kept a payment of over £900 until April incase they overpay us...those monies alone can wipe a fair bit off my debt!!!....never mind will be nice when we eventually get it...0 -
We've got planning permission too - though goodness knows why we did it, because we know that we can't afford to do it!!
Oh well, perhaps we can one day renew it (it will have lapsed by the time we are in funds!) or can sell the house with planning permission to someone else with more cash than us!!

Hi taxi. I think it's a really good idea to use the surplus tax savings to pay off your cards once the 0% period ends. So long as you know you will have the money when you next have a tax bill due.
20k target is huge but given how much you've paid off this year, when you were off work for a long period, I feel sure you can do it.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
that's great that your OH is talented enough to manage such projects...mine is useless at anything like that but he's good at earning on the cab..so that can be his contribution..lol..
I love the "talented enough to manage such projects", taxi :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . He isn't really, but has the enthusiasm to try lots of jobs which are often beyond him:eek: . We've lived in a permanent 'building site' for the past 10 years surrounded by unfinished projects. I'd really love it if just for once he'd actually pay someone to do a complete job so that it actually gets finished.
I'll give him his due though, he loves rolling his sleeves up and getting stuck in. He opted for a professional career mainly to fulfil his family's and his teachers' expectations but he likes nothing better than doing physical work in his time off. He doesn't try all the skills himself(thank heavens:rolleyes: ) and such as major electrics and plumbing he'll leave to 'experts'. He'll often do a job from scratch without help, except for me as the labourer to be yelled at:eek:. Things like building, paving, roofing, all joinery, chimney work, guttering, replacing windows etc etc he'll have a go at every time. He won't ever employ a 'firm' as such but always seems to know someone who knows someone who wants to earn a bit of extra cash at the weekend and evenings. They are usually fully skilled men who work for big firms in the week but are always glad for a bit extra. DH always helps them as a labourer and more and that way he's picked up a fair few skills. But often these guys don't always turn up for weeks on end etc. and it just goes on and on. I could cry sometimes:o
Sorry about the rant. The idea of an extension really appeals, not just to improve the place but to make the current layout much more convenient and we could just about afford it. But it's just another 'to do sometime' project on DH's long long list!

HI sorry peeps....I came home from work this afternoon and fell asleep and have just woke up!!!!...don't know why I fell asleep for that long!!!!!
What a lot of replies ...thankyou..I don't think I'll pay £20k at all but will have a good go...I can only pay what I can pay...but will do my best...if I manage to pay both CCs off and one loan that will be great...the loan I will have to save a lump sum for...so it won't look like it has gone down for ages...IYSWIM...
I had a alright day at work and would like to increase my hours but don't feel well enough yet...I do 30-35 p/week at the moment...so will look at it come easter maybe...
Hope you all had a good weekend...0 -
Good Morning Taxi
Not seen you around much lately so hope everything is OK with you. It's probably the extra workload on the taxi and all your Christmas preparations that's keeping your diary eerily quiet at the moment.
