Hi all...hope everyones well and not too stressed:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Well I took my notice to the gym to cancel today (£46 p/m)...but you have to give 3 months notice...stuoid me thought it was one month...so will have to pay until march..that's the only moneysaving thing I've done today...
I think everyone in my town were staying in today as it was really quiet on the cab...I ended up blowing £2.50 on a mag I was so bored:eek:  not very MSE I know...I'll be glad to see the back end of this week...it's been a disaster...so not a lot to report today I'm afraid
  • Well at least you have got the ball rolling in respect of the gym.

Come Spring time that will be another £46 to throw at whatever debt you choose.

I hope today (Monday) has been busier for you.

Will you be working New Year's Eve?? I am assuming yes but I could be wrong. Would have thought it would be a good night.

A few years back when I cancelled gym membership I cancelled the direct debit so they couldn't take it despite them wanting 3 months notice.

They sent letters demanding I paid but I just ignored them. After a while they gave up and eventually even offered to let me rejoin for a reduced rate (I didn't bother).

It's not worth their while taking you to court for 3 months so I'd be inclined to just cancel it and let them stew. Three months notice seems unfair anyway,

    Hi LA and mjdh1957...
LA it's been quietish today on the cab...but I do expect it to get busier during the week...I'll be working everyday except wednesday over the christmas and new year period..I work the days and hubby works the nights..there should be quite a few busy times over that period...I'll just havr to go with the flow!!
mjdh....I appreciate what you say about cancelling the DD but I don't renage on bill payments and also my daughter works at the gym..so wouldn't want her getting any hassle...it does say 3 months notice in my terms and conditions...so will pay it
Hi everyone else who's reading...well quietish today.Well I've opened another couple of those websavers so I've got three now..TAX,NEXT YEARS HOLIDAY and RAINY DAY FUND..
Also, I've read through my mortgage papers and it's not worth changing my mortgage until march 2008...it'll soon come and by that time I will have paid all my debts off...cos I really want to hammer the mortgage down by overpaying probably double of what I'm paying now.
Also I remembered at last to phone up to see when my 0% ends for my sofa and it's not until 21 june and also found I could pay any amount as and when I want by debit card(could be handy)...or I may open another saving account...I'll think about that one...lol
It's addictive this MSE ...don't feel like I've achieved anything if I haven't thought of someway of saving money ...lol
Sorry not a lot to report again today running out of ideas at the moment!!..but will keep plodding on..

    Hi Taxi

Good plan about the savings accounts for different annual budgets - think I might pinch that idea myself if that is OK! Have decided on my diary to try to do one little thing each day to move myself towards being DF... this will be one of them in the next few weeks. I will call it budgeting rather than saving - but I know if I don't do it I will have the same problem I have this year - very little for Christmas and a tax bill coming in January which I think will have to come off a 0% balance transfer.. which will push up our debt in the short term (though we should have expenses coming in which will pay it back) :(

Hope the taxi business picks up soon for you - a lot of friends in retail have reported it being slow over the past few days - I guess more people are shopping on line especially with the weather being so miserable. But hopefully they'll all be out and needing your cab over the next few days!

Hi mizmir...we are both thinking along the same lines here:D :D ...you have exactly the same problems as me...I thought it was bad business planning on my part:eek: but reading through these posts nearl all of us SE on here have the same problem with the tax situation...that's why I decided on the halifax web saver accounts you can have as many as you like and call them what you want while gaining 5% int(4%) if you take the cash card)..I didn't take the cards as I can transfer the money into my current account instantly..it's like Martins piggybank savings idea..
The tax thing in jan is always a big issue:eek:  and I don't want it to be ...and this seemed like a good idea...when I'm further out of debt...I'm going to have a few more...I'm glad you like the idea ..that's why I post things in my diary:j if it helps even one person ..that's great:T and I'm always grateful when anyone posts any suggestions I can follow...:j ...
It was the lady at the bank that said she had about 8 of them...that got me thinking...lol:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: it's so easy dump money in current account then transfer whatever, whenever into whichever account...so easy even I can do it!!
