What a shame. They are a great motivator - to see how everyone is doing.
I didn't know there was a limit on them  - better watch mine! ;)

    HI taxi.

Sympathies re the tax office c*ck up - same thing happened to me last year. I sent the forms off in August, at the end of January I got a letter from the tax office chasing them as they had not been received. Will always look out for a receipt from now on.

Please do another signature - I find people's signatures very interesting and inspiring!

Best of luck with car/plotting hassles

Hi all, sorry to hear about your awful day Taxi.

With this Self Assessment malarkey, my accountant just tells me how much to pay and then I drop a cheque into Mexford House.

Usually they won't give receipts for tax returns, but paper returns are logged in on a daily basis, the on-line ones are automatically logged in as received as soon as they are accepted on-line.

Personally, I'd drop the cheques in myself, before the end of January, then you know that the money is there.
I had my accountant on the phone, wanting my books...that's a job for this evening. Every year, I say I'm going to be more organised.

Glad to hear that Dad is doing ok 1 Step, whilst he will no doubt have a quiet Christmas, at least it is over now and he won't be thinking about it all christmas.

Hi everyone...hope everyone's well...here goes my measly offerings for today..for what they're worth!!
O/D is now clear and nearly £3,000 sat there...unfortunately after giving my cheques to tax man...I'll be left with just under £800 ...I will leave this in account to get a little interest(taxman can have his cheques after 1st jan...that way I'll get my interest)..also awaiting insurance cheque that should be here in a few days as well..
If I can manage to stay at work without some disaster happening I should be able to make a few quid and build the bank up so that I don't come back from the holiday well into the overdraft..here's hoping
I have been shopping today and stocked up on essentials...toilet roll, milk(I use longlife),potatoes, bread and paracetamol...also bought a new house phone £7.99...less than £25...and I will not be stepping foot in a shop before new year...the crowds are mad so that's me finished shopping...
Not a lot else to report as not a lot of moneysaving to be had at the moment but watch this space in feb..I'll be well away..
Not long until christmas now ladies and gents...
  • Hi taxi.

Well as you said to me, at this time of year, sticking to budgets or doing a lot of money saving is pretty impossible so....don't worry too much.

We can all get stuck in in January can't we? We can motivate each other that month.

It's good to see you have put a few things on your signature....you need to have something on there to motivate you as you said.

I guess you probably feel as I do at the moment - a bit 'static'.

Next month I hope we can all make bigger steps. However it's a long long time for me till the January pay day.
Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
    Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Thanks for that LA...I do feel a little static not due to christmas...but due to january which will be a really quiet month on the cab...but I'm going into it in a better position..ie no large o/d...I worked out if I hadn't done that BT the other day that when I would've paid the tax come end of jan I'd have been about £4,500 into the o/d...so it really came in handy...I feel I'll really make inroads when I give up smoking in feb and if I come back from my hols with money..it'll come straight off the halifax card as will the smoking money so that's one sorted quite easily!!...without all the people on here I'd have been in a right pickle...everyone has been so helpful and kind and now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..though it's quite a distance at the moment...lol...these 0% deals are a godsend...
