    HI taxi,
Great news that you have found a tradesman who can do the work but who also has ideas about improving your house - it sounds as if making small changes will make a big difference, specially moving the freezers out of the front room.

We had two rooms replastered recently, the old Victorian plaster that came down weighed a ton! In fact probably several tons (we're only half way through carting it all the dump). It was mixed up with horse-hair, I found it strange to think of those long-dead Victorian horses! Anyway, it's made the rooms much lighter and brighter and was well worth the trouble.

Hope you have a good weekend

Hi Sea...thanks for that!!!...it' hard to find someone to trust....wow...that plaster sounds interesting ...mines lime plaster...can't wait to get it done...and I'm sure it will be worth it...I guess your plastering cost a fortune...with you having to have it took off...thankfully mine doesn't need that...but really don't know what a good price would be....I've never had work done before in my own house...i've always been private rented or council...I've lived here 5 years and not had jobs done as I'm scared of getting ripped off,...lol...you have a good weekend as well xx
  • Thanks taxi for your well wishes. Just to let you know yes I did get the Egg card, today in fact.

So I have organised the overdraft balance transfer, and I didn't go mad with it either, I have asked for just what I need and won't really have anything 'left over' as I thought I might squander it!

So.....once that BT goes through, the overdraft will be gone and the repayments to EGG start. I will then be very focussed on clearing it ASAP, making overpayments and selling things to help chip away at it. As we've said before - it's easier that way than chasing your tail with the overdraft!

I will definitely be watching every penny and getting more 'together' when it comes to budgeting for things for 'me' (hair & 'beauty' stuff, social, clothes etc) now so I don't get in this overdraft pickle again....touch wood!

Anyway enough of me: that's great news about being able to stay where you are and sort things out so you make better use of the house/space. It's *so* bl00dy expensive to move so I reckon this is a great way forward for you.

Have a superb weekend and (once again, she says!) speak soon. I am off to bed shortly, absolutely ker-nackered.

    Bye hon!

    LA xx

Hi Taxi, things seem to be going pretty well for you - to be able to pay off another £500 is nothing short of bloody amazing!! There is no way that I will catch you in the race to £35000:eek: I think even Seaxwyn in her pole position needs to keep checking behind her! Seaxwyn, you may not be wearing yellow for much longer at this rate!!

I hope you have a good weekend x

Afternoon LA,HYpno and Fishface and anybody else reading,
LA glad you got your card and it is definitely easier chipping away at it rather than an O/D...Hypno thanks for that I'm even happier as I have more than £500 to pay off it now...so really happy...
Fishface good luck on sorting the budgets...
I'm feeling quite positive today as after discussing things with DH we are going to do this house up and stay here...which means I will be able to be deft free and mortgage free within the next 10 years for definite and probably sooner...as our mortgage is due for renewal in March (I have an appointment in Jan for this)....I've asked my MA to find a deal that I can overpay as much as I like and preferably with no fees as we only owe about £47000..though with staying here we can also look at a fixed deal as long as it's got no fees as we will be doing the house up over a couple of years and don't want to borrow to do it so there won't be many overpayments in 2 years or so!!!!
Still waiting for the plasterer to give me the price. He said he'd let me know over the weekend.....
I've done loads of housework ...all my washing has been washed, dried on line and will be put away after....all floors hoovered...bedrooms and bathroom and kitchen floors mopped...all pots washed.....bathroom cleaned...tea done and eaten!!!..so I can chill out tonight...microwave completely scrubbed!!!!...so I've done plenty today....
How sad is this?...I can't wait until monday to update my sig....have a good weekend everyone!!!!
  • Hi Taxi
lots of positive stuff going on at your end at the moment. Well done on having big overpayment for Barclays - will be watching for your sig to be updated Monday.
Glad you have found a tradesman you can trust. It is so easy to get ripped off with building work when you don't know the people. Sounds like he has some good ideas to help you to be able to stay there, very dfw.:D and will help you be mortgage free sooner:D.
