  • I wonder what we'll all do when we have money to spare again? I don't suppose any of us will spend it like there's no tomorrow after all the penny-pinching we've had to do to get debt-free but it would be nice to be able to buy a few nice 'treats' without feeling guilty.

I'd love some nice perfume instead of eking out whatever is given me as gifts. Oh, and bath goodies(if we ever have an operational bathroom again:rotfl: ). I bought a large stock of Matey(children's bubble bath) just after Christmas reduced to next to nothing because it was in Christmas packaging. Very DFW and does the job but doesn't have the luxury pampering factor somehow!

Hi Imp....its true I don't think any of us will spend money as bad as we did before and all the treats will be bought the DFW way so still saving money..I'm the same as you using loads of christmas stuff up!!!!...well done om the matey...as...every little penny saved on one thing can go on debt..so we can spend money again...lol

    Evening all,
Hope everyone is ok!!!...well today I think I've been slightly productive...I mulled through quidco and applied for scarlet,MBNA and hilarys blinds...the MBNA as already tracked....so thats a bit extra...I noticed some survey things at 70p so may go and do them...
I've checked all banking today and done all my washing and hung it on the line and hoovered and tidied!!!...today is DHs day off so we have been to town(walked)..we had breakfast(he paid)...mulled around the shops..in poundland I got him 2 Mithchum deodrants(bargain)...in boots he bought his vitamins and put the points on my card and I bought some vitamins...I wanted to go upstairs in Boots but the lift was out of order and I'm frightened of coming down an escalator!!!...I have 2 of those £5 0ff facial vouchers to be used by 11th september...so will go back saturday!!!
DD is out at work and DH gone for a game of snooker with his mates so quite peaceful here...I rang the plasterer but no answer so left him a message to contact me...so awaiting a phonecall now...
Apart from that not a lot going on here...
  • Sounds like you had a nice day,Taxi. It's always good to be able to spend some time with DH when they're not exhausted(and bad-tempered in our case:eek: )from work isn't it?

I love Poundland. We haven't any branches round here (or anything else much either as it's a rural backwater) but whenever I go to any big shopping-centres I make a bee-line for them. I was at Meadowhall in Sheffield recently with my sister-in-law who lives near there and is a regular. She asked me where I wanted to start knowing I'm starved of good shops(good thing too in my skint state:rotfl: ) and is amazed when I asked if there was a Poundland. I'm afraid my brother and s-i-l are nothing like me, with them image is everything. She's been visiting Meadowhall every week for about 10 years and had never been into Poundland until I dragged her in. I don't think she was very impressed though, although I got some wonderful bargains!

Have a nice day. Will you be car booting again this weekend? I've got my boxes packed ready for loading the car tonight. Might fit in 2 sales over the weekend which will really make a dent in the piles of 'clutter' I want to get rid of. Weather forecast looks OK here for a change:j

    Morning Imp and all,
I think DHs are always grumpy for one reason or another...LOL...but it's nice to spend time with him and he's good to me so shouldn't complain.I ended up with a houseful at 11pm last night as him and his mates came back here and they all bought a chinese ...so totally DFW for me...
Unfortunately won't be carbooting this weekend as I haven't enough stuff..I only have a few bits but am on the scrounge for more....DD never dropped me anymore stuff off as she left it in the old flat......couldn't believe it when she told me that...I'm working on one of my mates to get some of her old stuff!!!!
Plasterer is coming tonight to give me a price...the stuff at quidco has validated already so thats good...£37.50...not to be sniffed at!!!...my house insurance is due soon so will have a look at that as well.
I never used to go to poundland either but admit they do have some good stuff in...so if I'm in town I have a look...sometimes there is loads of good stuff other times nothing!!!
    Have a good day allxxx
  • I need to go to Poundland to get some pan scourer/washing up sponges!

    :D

(Just thought I would join in!)

Won't be around much over the next week taxi so I thought I would pop in now and let you know in case you think I am ignoring you! (No way!)

Keep up the good work - you're doing so well.

Speak to you in about a week then.

Take care and enjoy the weekend.

    Hi all,
Well the plasterer has been(on time) and will let me know the price over the weekend....he says he can just skim the whole room..I've also showed him the rest of the house and he has had some fantastic ideas to ease our problems of space..so am really happy at that as this will save us moving!!!!he also builds kitchens so thats great as well so I won't have to get an expensive shop in to do it!!!!...so am feeling quite up-beat about it all...I only owe £47000 on my mortgage so didn't really want to spend a lot on up-grading to a bigger house..so i think with his help that I can do what I need here...so am really happy...it make take a while to do it all but it will be worth it...so am awaiting his quote...I need to do it to sell or stay so it has to be done...

Glad to hear taxi that your plasterer was so helpful. It must be a relief that he can just skim it. That will save a lot. And well done on the overpayment too. Glad that is going the right way for your.
Must be something in the air...!

Hi Chev...yes well done on your win!!!...I've been putting off having any jobs done in the house as I don't know any proper tradesmen and a lot are cowboys but this man is my DDS mates dad..and knew what he was on about ....my house is over 100 years old and has original lime plaster in that room...I do love this house except the size of the kitchen...his idea is to remove the large window in back living room and replace with patio door and to block off kitchen door leaving more room and to knock down the small bit at end of kitchen (old toilet block) and build a small extension on..so doesn't cost too much...he fits kitchens so I can get one from somewhere like B&Q ...then I can fit my freezers in....instead of them being in the front room....voila...no need to move...cleaner tidier house....and will still have most of my garden (including shed that DH keeps his junk in)...so the house will be big enough as well!!!!
