Well apparently this road charging is to relieve congestion!

Yet as normal no other options gave been considered, it could be argued that the majority of traffic on the road at the busiest times is people travelling to or from work and shopping.

Surely it would be easier/ less costly to make it mandatory for all employers employing over x amount of staff e.g.100 to provide staff transport, this would not be optional, to get to work you would have to use company transport. Now obviously sales reps etc would still be in their cars, but factories etc would be able to do this relatively easily.

Now personally i dont like the idea of being told that I have to be at so and so street at 10.05 to be picked up by the bus, however i like even less the idea of paying for every single mile of road i use. So if there was a choice i would pick compulsary work transport everytime.

I know the idea is very rough and contentious but its a start, it would surely get a large proportion of cars off the roads at peak times.
Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned, and the last fish has been caught,
will we realise that we cannot eat money.
  • clearing congestion in cities:

Get rid of the 1 way streets! most of the congestion is lost people trying to get off the bl**dy 1 way system and get home.

You forgot to mention the traffic lights every three feet :p

  • road taxing = more expensive to drive = less people drive = more young girls working as waitresses, barmaids, in hotels etc get raped walking home as they can't afford to work.

road taxing = more expensive to drive = less people drive = more muggings and attacks when people walk home

Have you seen what they're proposing in Reading?

    Utter, utter madness.

I signed this the other day.
It even made the national news on bbc a few days ago because they can't believe how many hits it's had.

but another petition on there I think is important and I've just signed is this..
We, the people of Britain, feel that our current National Anthem has lost a bit of its sparkle.

When we are confronted by the rare occasion of us winning a medal at the Olympics, we all have to mumble through "God Save The Queen", well God help us in 2012!

We would thereby like to table the suggestion that we change the National Anthem to something more modern and appropriate and that will re-invigorate our pride.

What we specifically want to see, is that the National Anthem be changed in favour of "Gold" by Spandau Ballet.

Further, we would like our National Olympic Committee to decree that Tony Hadley is the only person permitted to handle medal ceremonies where the National Anthem is played.

We don't mind what he wears when he does this, but preference is given towards a a gold colured suit.

    Sincerely,

get over there and get mr Indestructable for our national anthem:beer:
