Peugeot 107 for £5700

The 107/aygo/C1 are cracking little cars, do you really care about electric windows in a little city car? They are quite cheap looking but bright inside, which is the point of them really. The little 3 cylinder engines make a great sound and are actually quite fun to chuck around too. Practically no boot though.
The picanto and panda are also worth looking at, depends what you want really - the panda is far roomier all round and drives ok too, the picanto is somewhere in the middle. Drivethedeal are very reliable, if you look around the net you should see plenty of reviews. If you print off your quote and take it to a dealer just ask them to either match it or get as close as possible then take it from there.
How do you plan to finance the vehicle? I only ask as you can lease these cars for around £110/120 per month inc vat - best to do the sums and see if that makes more sense than buying0 -
If you can, go for one which is a few years old and has all the toys, rather than a brand new/nearly new, without any toys, just because of the price.
My gf and I recently bought a 107, 2008 model, with only 9000 miles on the clock. Immaculate condition, from a main dealer with 12 month warranty, full service history and full MOT. All for £5500. It has all the toys like A/C, EW etc. It's a great car and I would recommend one to anyone. When we come to sell it, it will sell better than one without all the electric gizmos and is much more comfortable to drive on a daily basis.0 -
We bought our Aygo through drivethedeal - excellent service by them and so far the car has done what we wanted it to - get my daughter to nursery/school and provide a very cheap to run second car which is ideal for nipping around built up areas - 45mpg without trying.
5 of my colleagues also have 107/C1/Aygos and all have provided sterling service over the last 5 years.
£5,700 is a bargain - depcreciation will be minimal as it has so little to lose.0 -
Thanks daveyjp.
I was thinking along the same lines with depreciation etc and using it as 2nd car. We all know that cars lose a fair value chunk when you drive a new car out of the showroom, but this deal appears not to be so financially hurtful.
Regarding drive a deal - did you vehicle take a long time to arrive and do they transport the vehcile to you? or do they ask you to collect from a nearby dealer?
Thanks0 -
The car took a couple of weeks, but we did order it over Christmas.
Delivery is the one potential downside. It depends which dealer DTD work with to supply the car. Our dealer was 200 miles away and it was driven to us, we could have collected it, but why bother? It arrived in one piece and all was fine.
I would add that you only pay the deposit to DTD - once your order is accepted DTD will contact you with details of the supplying dealer and the dealer will then contact you to discuss delivery dates, payment and collection details.0 -
Kilty - property.advert makes a very good point, and s/he doesn't mention budget at all, yet you shoot him/her down.
You can spend a lot less than £5.7k on a car, and you certainly can get 'life's little essentials' like electric mirrors - how posh are you that you buy a car new all the time?! Try used!0 -
go for the aygo if the price is near 5 yr warranty, just watch out if you are bigger than the average with these cars, turns out that if you are over a certain weight that you might be at a greater risk in the event of an accident. google it if you need more information and make your own mind up, been talked here numerous time.

New Picanto is out at the end of the year if you can wait that long.0 -

:rotfl:
I've tried used, got fed up of fixing someone else's problems.
Not quite breaking out the caviar yet, though
What I was getting at was he basically said "Oh I wouldn't drive that, it's a cheap car without xyz"0 -
If you look on the drive the deal website the107 comes out at about £75 a month, with a deposit of 10% on a personal contract plan, my local dealer wanted £124 a month for the same deal.
I am phoning them tomorrow to check the figures but if they are correct we will probably be ordering a red one as we do not like the yellow one.0 -

How long is the term?
My Picanto is 75pcm, 36 months with ~20% deposit though.0
