I'm getting married next year and am going down the Vintage/DIY route. We have about £9k in total, which sounds like a lot but it's not really! I'm going to do the majority of favours myself and I'm starting to stock up on china teacups from charity shops and markets for tealight holders. I'm going to use local flowers that are in season at the time to decorate the tables, together with tealights.

I'm getting my dress from a local bridal shop- a LOT cheaper than some of the "chain" bridal shops and I'm going to get the bridesmaids to choose their own wedding dresses (in a particular colour) and pay for them. It will still be cheaper doing that than getting bridesmaids dresses made and fitted for them.

I've started posting some tips and links for people to use and comment on their own ideas. Hopefully it might be of help to some people!

I'm going for cornflower blue with as much bling as I can get away with everywhere! I did struggle to get the men's ties/handkerchiefs to match the bridesmaids but last season Austin Reed came up trumps. Was very satisfying to match the swatch - nearly did a high 5 in the shop!

sounds like making everything match is a pain, but i bet it looks good in the end.

    Teal & silver.

But like someone said teal can mean so many different things so is a nightmare matching up.

Took me forever to find the right shade of teal card to do my butterflies for my invites.

So teal is just a bit now, kinda a splash of it instead. Was going to have my sister in a teal dress, but changed it to silver with a black waist band as my dress is ivory with a black waist band.

So we're having ivory flowers with teal bought into it in both our flowers. Then teal butterflies on my wedding cup cakes.

we are cadburys purple, ivory and a smattering of silver
my dress has a big purple panel all down the back, my adult BM is in purple, little bms in ivory with purple accessories etc, groom, best men etc all have cravats, hankies and flecks of it on thier waistcosts....all stationary, extras, ribbons etc all purple

as for matching it all up...all purples that claim to be cadburys are worlds apart but i dont really mind as long as they are darkish, im only objecting to lilac!

    Ours was pink.

I had hot pink flowers in my bouquet, and hot pink shoes.

Bridesmaid wore a hot pink dress.

The men wore baby pink shirts and hot pink ties.

We had hot pink bags for our favours and hot pink tea lights on the tables.

The cake however, was black and white! Don't ask lol...
