They have sold a single use license, that's like me complaining that Kodak are 'siphoning off' my consumer rights because I chose to buy a pre-used single use camera, which, due to already being used, was useless to me hen it arrived. No-one is forcing people to buy these products, so stop complaining and buy non single-use games *facepalm*
Ah right, so in the consumer rights section, in the moneysaving forums we should be concerned with companies rights to the detetriment of our own.
The disposable camera argument doesn't work and the as for forcing people to buy games that's another argument entirely.
ps, Some people are getting resale and piracy confused.0 -

Maybe, but it still stands that a license sold for single use only is strictly that.one of the famous 50 -

Not really.
It's normally written into the licence agreement that you agree that you won't copy (unless permitted) the software, so the licence covers both reselling and piracy.0 -

Reselling the original is not copying. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Actually a lot of copyright on things like music films and games forbid you to resell them or play them to an audience with out proper permission - thats the whole reson you have companies like PRS

I have never, ever seen a note on a CD/record/cassette tape/DVD/video tapes that says, "you are not allowed to resell this CD/record/cassette tape/DVD/video tape." I think a lot of second hand record/video stores should be very worried. I wonder if "Game" should get the lawyers in, just to check. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Though I bet you wont see any second hand games @ Game and the like where you need a license key or one that hasnt got a new authorised license key from the makers so they can resell itone of the famous 50 -

Care to point out where I stated that it was.
If you read my post again, you will see that I clearly said that "the licence covers both reselling and piracy" (ie, 2 different things)0 -

Having worked at Gamestation, we had a list of games which required serial numbers etc, and we would not buy them in. As a primary games retailer, however, the company did have express permission to buy and resell games, as a percentage of the profits would go to the gaming companies (which is why all games were bought in under their correct titles, so as to ensure we knew which company was getting what.)0 -
well the likes of gamestation and cex buy games from customers and sell as pre owned, same things isnt it.
no law against it, just the fact steam may have it registered on another system thus not allowing you to use.0
