Those who are waiting to TTC

You can have an IUD without hormones, so that you would retain a normal cycle. This is the option I went for after coming off the combined pill due to migraines. But, although the risk of getting pregnant is very low, if it does happen it is much more likely to be ectopic (from what I understand), so it's probably not a good solution for you.
I'm not sure what other options there are really, other than permanent ones, which aren't suitable for you right now.
Here is the NHS list of contraceptive options available: http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Contraception/Pages/Guidetocontraception.aspx
I think, for you at the moment, the best options are condoms or natural family planning (but I understand that you really should take a course on this to ensure you are doing it correctly).February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I think that's what we'll have to do to be honest. If we were to have another baby then I think he'd get the snip but for now I'm not ready for either of us to make a decision which way we'll go. Natural FP is an idea - I'll research that one a bit more I think. Thank you x0

Welcome Jess! So sorry to hear about your little one
I hope that you're on the mend and that you're healing well in all senses.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I don't really know if I want to post here or not... kind of makes it real if I do. But I am reeeeally broody at the moment! Im 28 and in a relationship with someone who wants kids (almost;)) as much as I do, so the problem is that he has some health issues which really have to be sorted out before we TTC. Which is all very logical and the 'right' thing to do. But sometimes I just want to stamp my feet and say its not fair!0

..and another welcome to FMOW
Do the health problems of your OH affect conceiving or helping with the end result?? If not then I don't class it as urgent:p We were supposed to go for genetic counselling due to DHs health problem but we didn't want to wait the 6months(!) for an appointment for someone to tell us the risks(admittedly we knew they were minimal:o) so cracked on with it..DD was perfect.....if a little stubborn about exiting my body:D
Sometimes common sense just doesn't come in to it;)1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

welcome JwW and FMOW :wave:sorry to hear your troubles, come and have a warm, friendly hug from us lot on this thread, everyone is very kind and lovely.
I love the fact that more and more people keep joining us! I am now on CD35, even though I came off the pill a month ago, I was thinking that my cycle would be the same so was sort of not-really-but-hoping that maybe I was PG, but I did a test and I'm not..
and
because I'm really worried it might not happen easily so want to start asap but we should wait until Oct & the honeymoon so we can have a fab time in NZ!
Oh dear, the troubles!!!
Fridge update...the washing machine is out..but the fridge isn't in because DH didn't have time to sort it out, so we now have no washing machine OR fridge!!! :doh:0 -

Helping with the end result I'm afraid. He needs a kidney transplant. He currently dialyses every night by hooking up to a machine which pumps fluid in and out of his stomach, which is fine for normal life as it is now (well, now we've got used to it its fine - was a shock to the system to start with!!) ... so would mean no help with nappies etc in the night time as he can't move far from bed!
And he wants to be fully involved... not feeling sick and tired all the time (as a result of kidney failure)... he wants to be able to look after me during PG and of course the baby.... so we have decided to wait until he is better. All very sensible but oh so frustrating :rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone! :hello: Can I join you?
I'm hoping to TTC in September. Me and DH have been married two years in August.
I had to see the nurse today for a smear (sorry if that's TMI)! Anyway, we started chatting about contraception and I said we might try for a family in the near future and she gave me lots of good advice. First of all, I need to start taking folic acid pronto!
I said I would probably have to wait until losing some weight first and she told me not to worry about that too much as she was never a 'normal' weight and she has two children and that she'd spoken to lots of women who'd said the same thing and that now they're in their mid-30s they're finding it hard to get pregnant. I'm 30, BTW. She said I didn't look it, and I refrained from asking 'from which end?!':rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I think I've been putting off even thinking about TTC due to many reasons - a phobia of sickanxiety, depression, rebelling against people who presume I'm definitely having children
But this is what both me and DH want.
It's not really an ideal time as DH is being made redundant next year and I'm in line for a promotion, but I can't keep putting it off as the time will never be exactly right.
Obviously we don't know if we can even have kids until we start trying. If not, perhaps I'll have to start another thread 'waiting to be a dog owner':D But joking aside, I would consider fostering or adoption if it came to it, although I'm sure that can be a long and difficult process.
Well, I think I've waffled on for long enough, sorry!
I look forward to getting to know you all.
Lily x
ETA: The nurse did say to eat healthier and do more exercise BTW! Just not to go on a crash diet or anything!0 -

Oh thats carp and frustrating for both of you:( I can see why you both want to wait, not exactly an ideal situation...although him being tied to the bed(kinda) each night could be fun and is definitely ideal for plenty of practice:D
ETA: welcome to Lily toowow having a big influx of newbies today:D as for the sick phobia...SNAP!! my desire to get up the duff was stronger though..luckily I only had nausea not full on chucking and I can deal with milky sick....but when it starts to get chunks in it...I'm not so sure_pale_

Welcome FMOW, sorry to hear about your OH's poorly kidneys! Fingers crossed that he'll get a donor kidney soon and you can start your family. I can't imagine how frustrating it is for you having to wait, I'm edgy that we can't start trying now and that's just because we're going away in September, nothing so serious and uncertain as health issues!
No idea how to put a positive spin on having neither fridge nor washing machine, just that he'll have to buy you a nice frock and take you out to dinner tonight as you've got no fresh food or clean clothes! :rotfl:
