That's not always the case. Some !!!!!! sites are used to introduce viruses so the OP needs to make sure they have up-to-date protection on the computer.

Also, depending on Mum and Dad's jobs, they could have problems if the son downloads unacceptable things. Keep a check on him or never have the computer serviced/repaired!

I do agree about keeping security up to date whatever the case, but I can assure you there is many 100% safe free !!!!!! sites out there. Just like there is many not safe sites which are nothing to do with !!!!!!.

By all means use security but allow a couple of sites which are safe and enough to keep him entertained.

Would be no reason for it to affect anybody's job. If his parents were paying forhim to look at such sites and putting it on their expenses then maybe it would lol.

Which is why I used the word "some" - not "all, not "many", not "most".

Pretty sure I could pull my manager up and tell them a sometimes view !!!!!! at home and there would be no problems, she would ask why I think she needs to know. :rotfl:

I can't think of any situation where someone looking at (perfectly legal !!!!!!!) !!!!!! on a home computer, in private, would affect someone's job. Anything else would be a gross intrusion of privacy, which is a basic human right.

Well yes if you are looking at something illegal yes it can cause problems to anybody.

As a general rule investigation would take place and it would be traced back to the person who actually did it, to which dare I say there is much bigger problems if your child is searching for varies illegal materials and can't see the problem with that. Either way you block them from doing it now it will surface at a later date if they are that way inclined.

Back to the point of the average teenage boy will be looking for relatively normal !!!!!! some may like some more interesting acts than others but if thats what turns them on so be it.

I say this as I did a repair on my future brother in laws PC and nothing was legally or morally wrong, I just couldn't understand why it would turn him on, a quick google search it it ended up there was loads of people into said things.

The is one site which is a pita & thats a chat site called Live Jasmin. It's affiliated to (must be) thousands of websites, not just !!!!!! ones but one's that deal with adult humor.
  • My view is that a teenager needs to be supported in the process of growing up. You can't just ban !!!!!! until they are 18. It exists, it is accessible and he wants to look at it. It is important to educate him about the various dangers and issues of using internet !!!!!! but to try and stop it entirely is not only futile but potentially more damaging.

If we use alcohol (another adult vice) as an analogy, I think most people would agree that allowing a teenager to have an occasional glass of wine with dinner or share a beer in the garden on a hot day is likely to help engender a mature and healthy attitude to alcohol. Whereas if you ban it entirely, when that teenager reaches 18 they will just go beserk at finally being able to drink and with an immature lack of understanding will likely end up binge drinking and possibly develop more serious problems.

For me the same applies to sex/!!!!!!. Growing up is a process where these things need to be gradually allowed/introduced into the teenager's life. Hopefully through that process comes maturity and understanding so by the time they are 18 they are able to deal with things more independantly and intelligently. That is why I would advocate allowing access to a couple of mainstream, safe sites so that the teenager has a more gentle introduction into that world. By providing safe controlled access supported with information/education you will reduce the chance of him getting into problems with it.

To use the alcohol analogy again. I'd rather my teenage son was at home drinking a couple of cans of lager where I could keep an eye on things than out in the streets drinking anything and everything and getting into all sorts of trouble.

Funny you mention alcohol as that is another thing I have been exposed to my teenage years and I can say what you say about banning it causes more harm than good. I remember me asking my mum for some drinks (aged 14) as it was the summer holidays and a few of us where going camping, the next shopping trip came back with a 4 pack of strongbow, the other guys and girls had similar amounts of alcohol and we didn't all down everything but drank it as we told horror stories etc, yes we all got merry and had a great time without anybody being drunk. Likewise I started work at 16 and often wen't to the pub after work on fridays.

Now I had another friend who wasn't allowed to come camping (as he asked for alcohol) and was banned until he was 18 in general, no yes we both got rather drunk on our 18th but after than I can count on 1 hand how many times I have memory loss form excessive drinking, my friend got in that state every weekend for months after his 18th, almost like he had some catching up to do.

Now the point is, my mum knew that if she didn't get me alcohol somebody else would, so this way she knew what I was drinking and how much. Likewise if you try to ban !!!!!! with a teenager they will get it anyway.

I guess what it comes down to is my inner rebel didn't take hold, as i was given the alcohol I knew if I didn't do anything silly I would get more in the future (the ladies liked this quality :D) and there was no rebellion as my mum said yes. In short she gave me and inch and I took it, if she didn't give me the inch I would have took a mile.

As it is I don't have children yet, but I get a feeling I will be a cool dad in most teenagers terms
