  • Well if you get declined S1h, I will def get declined as I have about 8 defaults, 1 ccj and have very very bad credit history, but I thought i would give the citi bank a try anyway.....

I sent in copy of passport, copy of front and back of bank card, for signiture, a recent water bill and a letter advising I didn't have cheque book....... I hope this is going to be ok.

I got my pack. I am definitely going to change to the access account. Not yet though as we have to the end of March really.
I just can't justify the £10 fee a month out of my meagre money LOL

  • I've just had my decline letter :( No reason why just didn't meet requirements. I'm not majorly bad with credit history, a few (maybe a bit more than that!!) late payments and a settled default from last year sometime. Thought anyone could get an account!!!
I decided not to apply for the overdraft as I didn't want one anyway so I thought I would get the account.
I've just sent off for my credit report as there might be something on there I dont know about.
Could it be a benefit thing? Has anyone else here applied for an account with them that is purely on benefits for income?
Now I'm stumped if Lloyds close my account after the court issue thing over bank charges!!! And I've lost my £50 through quidco!!

    Hi montersmummy,

My mum is on benefits and she has applied, she is still waiting to hear from citi, I will post when she has heard something.

As for the bank account........I have 8 defaults and ccj's...........I applied for a halifax easycash account and got it straight away, didn't even have to sign anything or send id.......I applied online and they sent a card through the post a few weeks later. You get a visa electron, but no cheque book.
So try https://www.halifax.co.uk ........also maybe you could try natwest for the step account.........https://www.natwest.co.uk they provide a solo card.

So don't worry about been declined........you can try opening an account online, it has worked for me and I have a really really bad credit history.

    Hope this helps xx

You'll neen to use the internet banking pin, the EPIN? not the ATM one. umm the account number is 8 digits beginning with an 8 & isn't on your card, I logged into internet banking to find mine, I think you don't need it to register. As far as I remember it's just the long number & the epin, get back to me if it's not good luck

i earn 21k so if I get declined it wont be because of that. I think they have probably had a target to hit or something so lowered the criteria now thousands have applied with bad credit and got accounts and they are now thinking about the risk factor. A lot of them probably just want an overdraft and debit card to misuse.

All im really interested in is getting a decent account with a proper debit card. I have realised the error of my ways.

I think this is VERY unfair to say, You are not in a postion to say that about anyone. People have not just applied for this to do that, Mnay people like you realise they have made errors in the past and want them sorted out. This is another step in the process to sort your credit rating, access to debit card and a current account.

Re the overdraft not many people have it as far as I read.
