I'm planning on having lots of church candles as decorations for our wedding and found 2 Hurricane Lamps 12" high for £2 each! I did find them in different parts of the store and went around 5 times looking for more but no avail :-(
But at least thats 2 down!Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
I know it doesn't seem like a big bargain to some but we managed to get our dream reception venue for £4475. That includes roome hire, catering for 76 (daytime tea party with champagne and evening BBQ with steak, salmon, sausages and chicken as well as accompaniments), drinks on arrival, candles and lanterns for the venue decoration, all table linen and cutlery, free toastmaster, cakestand and knife, red carpet on arrival, bridal suite and breakfast for bride and groom. They've changed it from minimum numbers to a minimum spend for us. Normally it can cost up to £6000 for the wedding there.
I also got 100 Save the Date postcards from Vistaprint for £4.320 -

dolly you have to be careful when buying off ebay as all three of those things you mention happen
firstly if its really really cheap and 'stock' photo(taken off original designer website) it will be a copy, especially if its posted from china, there are some uk based sellers though who still buy from china so you still need to be careful just remember if its mega cheap it will be a copy
dresses from normal brides, either from a change of heart or who have worn it will have real live photos of the actual dress, these should be the real deal but you still have to be careful they havent bought it from a chinese factory or the like, id get all the info you can about where they purchased it from
sometimes bridal stores in this country sell on ebay too
most important of all is to check the sellers feedback, make sure you have loads of original photos and you know where the dress is coming from
Thank you for the advice Bubbles! Will definitely bear this in mean when I start my wedding dress hunt, especially seeing some of the bargains that have been found.0 -

My best bargain was my dress, it's a shop sample I got for £50 on ebay. The designer, Hilary Morgan, doesn't like her work to be shown online to deter copies. I was looking for photos of it on a bride and found this ad where the seller is asking for £450 and says she paid £900 new! I reckon I got it for an 18th of the price!
I also got a pair of Rainbow Club shoes like these worth £65 for just £5 postage, £60 off! They're perfect for me, they have a low heel for dancing, they're vegan, which is important to me and normally more expensive and they're exactly my size- 7.5, which is normally harder to find. They've been worn once but it rained at that brides wedding so they have a slight tide mark, they're dyeable satin so I'll just dye them purple to hide it.
Our cake is free because my chief bridesmaid, who has studied cooking and baking, is making it as a gift so that's saved us £100s and it's more personal.
We got a cool customised cake topper of us fighting zombies for only £30 because the artist was excited to try something different.
I'm getting artificial flowers from Dunhelm Mill, my gorgeous purple rose bouquet is only £4.99.
We've just booked The Old Rectory Handsworth for our reception. It's a beautiful venue run on a not for profit basis and they were very willing to work with our budget. We're paying £205 for the main hall for the evening and £20 for the entrance hall for the first couple of hours, they do a red carpet entrance, I'm really looking forward to it!
The great thing about these bargains is I don't feel I have sacrificed quality by getting them cheaper, I've got exactly what I wanted. You just need to shop around!0
