Im supposed to be having one fitted tomorrow, not sure whether to go ahead now....

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't intend to make people feel like this with this post.

Like you've said though, if it doesn't agree with you, then you can have it taken out :)

    Everyone is different :)

    Good luck :)

    I LOVE MINE !!!!

I am on my second one now, so in my 4th year. Very first time I had it put in I started to get irregular bleeding, (so what), mood swings (so what), and loss of sexual drive (matches my husbands lol). BUT since having my new implant in I have not bled at all. I still get mood swings, depression episodes, but from what I can remember I had all this before I even had it in the first place.

Weight gain is only a problem because of the increased appetite, I can not stop eating, hence gaining so much weight. But I did lose it all few years ago, And I will lose it all again. I just love my food to much at the moment.. lol

For me the pro's out weigh with cons. (i.e getting preggers again)..

positives - no periods for about 10 months - I had it fitted 17 months ago and had 2 very light ones and one heavy one. Improved my PMT.
negatives - terrible bloating put on a bit of weight, skin is bad (i have been put on Anti bs to improve it!)

Altho I got it original as a contraceptive - I'm single now and not having sex so its okay for me to be on Anti b's as it doesn't work as wellwith being on anti b's!

overall im happy because no pmt and no periods!

Well I went for it and had the implant put in today, wasnt too bad having it put in, its a bit sore now but sure that'll die down! The only side effect that Im really concerned about is weight gain, I only had a baby 7 weeks ago so have enough weight to lose, dont want to be putting any on!!

You just need to keep an eye on the scales. If they start going up, cut down on what goes in.

DueMarch11 don't forget to wait a few months as it can take this time for your hormones to settle back down :) Although I personally hate it, and I have my moods, my moods are no where as bad as they were for the first few months :)

    Good luck with it :)

Does it really hurt getting it put in and taken out?? I'm supposed to be getting one soon and am nervous as heck. Doc took me off the pill because of high blood pressure, didn't want the coil - would rather have pain in my arm than my insides :o

Least I know what to look out for I guess, and can get it taken out if I need to. Hubby has offered to have a vasectomy if there are any problems :)

I had my first and last implant removed just before xmas, on the plus side no worries of getting pregnant. I also had regular periods longer and a bit heavier than usual but nothing major. However it was the 2 stone weight gain that i couldnt shift, the acne and mood swings i didnt like so i wouldnt use it again i put up with it for the full 3 years as at 28 i didnt feel ready to be sterilized. I refused to have another though as my skin was horrid got sick of spending a fortune on lotions to clear it up. Now trying the injection - which isnt too bad had my first one in march lots of spotting but no other side effects noticed yet.
Having the implant put in and removed didnt hurt and i am a wuss i took a friend with me both times just in case i got scared :( lol
Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

I was actually discussing the implant with my GP yesterday. Apparently Implanon isn't used anymore it was replaced towards the end of last year with Nexplanon.

Has anybody had the Nexplanon implant?
