If you weren't insured, why are your insurers paying?

You may find the insurance company will come after the OP to re-coup their costs.

If it's still being investigated by the insurance companies, then perhaps you should write to the court and ask them to delay the hearing until you are done dealing with the insurance companies and/or ombudsman.

Would this work do you think?

if there is questionable doudt as to whether or not your were insured or not and the FSA has started an investigation into the insurers, then the offence is not clear cut, the court should be understanding and offer a period of extension, call the courts clerk and give him your ombudsman case ref number, the clerk will call the ombudsman and find out what progress has been made and confirm that you have a case, the rest is upto the judge to decide how much extension to give.

Surely it states on the certificate whether you have the DOC extension, regardless of what the ins policy says. In my experience, if it ain't on the cert, it ain't on the policy, and I have seen thousands of Certs.

You can't "get off" with something you weren't guilty of;)

Indeed, if you were genuinely insured then you didn't "get off", you got justice. ;)

How did the Careless Driving go? Perhaps you did "get off" that if they took no further action? :)

    Good result.

Far too many people are too keen to spout "it was in the t&c's, you must have mis read it".

Makes you think there must be a lot of soft touches out there.

Glad you're not one of them. At least others gave you suport and good advice.
The insurers need to be challenged when they're wrong.
