What is the wording on the certificate that led you to believe you have drive other cars cover?

Just noticed alot of the downright offensive replies to this. Go screw yourselves to those who posted it.

Of course I read it, and of course I am qualified to offer advise on Insurance.

Court date is next week, and I hope to be marching in there with a letter of indemnity as my Insurance company are paying out.

Its not clever to sneer, im hardly a criminal. I have one child, and a child due in 2 weeks. Its not a matter I can afford to take lightly.

Let us know how it goes.

    I dont see anything offensive.

You have stated that the wording was 'misleading' - as an expert on the subject (broker) than any of us mere mortals so would expect you to be 100% sure or query it as we rely on what you tell us and it could be one of us in court because you misunderstood the wording.

My understanding is that in some instances insurance companies may pay out when you are in breach of the policy and that they then claim the money from the policy holder, this does not mean they are admitting you are insured in terms of any motoring offence.

Given that the police a prosecuting it implies the insurance company have told them you are not insured.

    To help others respond:

    1) What is the insurance status of your mum's car?, and
    2) What does your insurance certificate say that is 'misleading'?

Who's sneering? People here are simply speaking their minds. Why not try telling everyone who comes to your brokerage that you're unable to offer them proper advice as to whether they can drive other peoples cars as you either didn't read/were misled by your own policy which led to getting a minimum of 9 points on your license for your trouble.

Its like a road safety adviser getting run over or an electrician electrocuting himself.

Cos these are criminal convictions are they?

Thank you. Just what I was about to say.

Running the information online for a quote, my policy should increase by £300 which I could live with I suppose.

The wording basically stated, under a particular section that driving other vehicles was covered. There was then another section that mentioned that said section was covered, if stated on ANOTHER section. Further than that, when the police spoke to the Insurance company, they told them that I refused to pay the additional premium for the DOC extension, which is untrue.

I thought the reason for these boards was to relate to people who have perhaps been in a similar situation, and gain help. Not for keyboard warriors to gloat from behind a computer screen at other people's misfortune.

Because if someone asks me a question, I wont mislead, I will be able to give a flat out, black and white answer. I wouldnt act in the way my company have acted.

Tell me, what is your occupation.

    Thats the million dollar question.

The 3rd parties Insurance company appointed somebody to take a look at this, he came out for a home visit.

As far as he was concerned the evidence was pretty damning against my Insurance company.

If it's still being investigated by the insurance companies, then perhaps you should write to the court and ask them to delay the hearing until you are done dealing with the insurance companies and/or ombudsman.

The point I was trying to make is that you don't seem to have done a very good job with your own insurance, yet you ask people to trust you to sort out theirs.

I personally double check all my insurances (I hold several policies) and I'm always sure of what I'm covered for/what I can drive/who's car/van I can borrow, so as a broker you should have been doubly on top of it.

Whats my occupation got to do with this??
