IN10 Conviction

Hi guys, glad of any help on this.

Back in Jan I had an accident driving my Mums little vehicle. Basically, the wording on my Insurance was misleading, and led me to believe I was covered to drive other vehicles (Im an Insurance Broker and it fooled me.)

Anywho, basically the police have become involved and are looking to persue and IN10 & a CD10. Crazy baring in mind the bump was literally a tiny scratch.

In respect of the IN10, it seems that my Insurance are now going to be forced into paying, can I now get it reversed?

No. You were not insured. The fact the bump was a little scratch is irrelevant. Even if you didn't have an accident, you were breaking the law and would have still been charged with IN10. Your insurance company will pay out and then they will sue you for the cost of that payout.

You cannot get it reversed even if the insurance company pay out as you were not insured and they are only paying out because of a change of law well over a decade ago that requires them to pay out.

With a IN10 and a CD10 on your licence, I doubt you're going to be able to afford to insure a car for the next few years.

Indeed. Any IN code on your licence is an instant "we don't want to touch you with a bargepole unless you have deep pockets" quote and coupled with a DWDCA makes you almost uninsurable for less than the cost of a nearly new car.

If you're an Insurance Broker with any type of knowledge of Insurance there is no way you could mistake the wording on a certificate of insurance as to whether or not you are covered to drive other cars.

It's worrying that you advise people on insurance and cannot read a certificate of insurance

If the insurance policy was misleading then you should take it to the insurance ombudsman and maybe fight the charges. It might be worth your while hiring a motoring lawyer.

I suspect it wasn't misleading at all and the OP couldn't be bothered to read the full policy or read what he wanted to read.

eh what, I just ran through a quick quote for a renault clio 1.6 in my part of Surrey, 50 year old male, full NCB, price was £193 with no convictions, £240 with the careless driving, £295 with the IN10, and £340 with both.

I pay more than that as it is, albeit because I have a better car than that.

Hardly prohibitive though - maybe if you are 17 it would be....

Just noticed alot of the downright offensive replies to this. Go screw yourselves to those who posted it.

Of course I read it, and of course I am qualified to offer advise on Insurance.

Court date is next week, and I hope to be marching in there with a letter of indemnity as my Insurance company are paying out.

Its not clever to sneer, im hardly a criminal. I have one child, and a child due in 2 weeks. Its not a matter I can afford to take lightly.

Well not if you haven't been convicted yet, but give it two weeks and that may be a different story.
