Please write to your MP, I read in the MOJ annual report that many MP's contact the MOJ on behalf of their constituents and they might have a bigger impact, it is worth a try.

Consortium has already been included recently in the Legal Beagles regular bulletin to the MOJ and we heard back yesterday that they are taking the relevant actions againt any CMC who have broken the rules. So fingers crossed that they are working behind the scenes.

You should also take the complaint up with Trading Standards the one in the same area as where Consortium;s address is.

One of our members also took the claim up with Consumer Direct and they said that the CMC had broken rule 11 - lol I bet they have broken more than one rule.

I was trying to read up on what rule 11 is to see how that fits in but have not yet had the time due to pressure of work. If anyone has time and can post up rule 11 that might be very usefull.

Please let us know how you get on.

I too was contacted by this company who kept calling me for over 2 weeks, against my better judgement but because they said they were registered with the MOJ i decided to go with them regarding my credit card dept. Boy was that the wrong decision!!!! 8 months on 2 recorded letters, which they did not reply too, and far too many telephone calls to them to mention, i know nothing other than the interest on the £1000 they took off my credit card is getting higher and higher. I have contacted the MOJ twice and have been told by them to now contact my credit card company and request my money back from them as the company as not given me the service i paid for and have also broken the 'rules' by giving me false information. i will do this tomorrow but warn anyone of thinking of going into a contract with them - DONT. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE FOR THIER OWN FINANCIAL GAIN. They will never answer your calls or letters to them and when you do get to speak to someone they just fob you off. Even if i get the money back i will still of lost a considerable amount in interest. I am at my wits end as to what to do and am considering contacting theo financial ombudsmon, any ideas anyone??

I've just taken a call from Consortium Technology; the woman was really pushy and wouldn't let me get a word in! She told me that she knew I had credit cards which were taken out prior to April 2007 and that a change in legislation meant that the contract was probably illegal. Consortium Technology would help me to get a new contract (for a fee obviously!) and could more or less guarantee that any outstanding debt could be written off because the previous contract would be null and void-which OBVIOUSLY sounds too good to be true!
I pretended to be interested to hear what she had to say but soon realised it just seemed like a way for their company to get money out of me!
I would never agree to anything over the phone anyway; but thought I would check out Consortium Technology- strange but I had a feeling there would be something about them on here! My advice to anyone who receives a call from this lot-STEER CLEAR!!!!!!
  • Do not under any circumstances use Consortium Reclaim for anything ! They claim they can get your unenforceable credit card debts wiped out but actually they can't. The debt will always exist. Also they guarantee that they will refund you any money if they aren't successful - BUT before you get to that stage they pass you over to their "Legal" partners who make you sign away your rights to claim against Consortium before they will proceed. Plus the Legal team charge you if you do want to proceed. I have lodged a complaint about Consortium Reclaim to the Ministry of Justice and I strongly suggest that if you have had any unpleasant dealings with them, you do the same !

Please if you have not already done so, you need to report this matter to the MOJ, Trading Standards and your MP.

As a matter of rule for anyone out there who is cold called and is being sold a service where they state they can wipe out your credit card debts what sounds to good to be true is often not a good idea. Also, IMHO never take anything like out from a cold call and always research first and never pay upfront fees to anyone who calls you. You know nothing about these people and you are parting with all your identity to them.

  • Sooooo glad I googled this, had a call from them yesterday evening during tea, told them a number of times I was in the middle of eating but they didn't listen, and as others had said they was really pushy, after he explained it, it all sounded so good, missed calls later on from them as I was out but I was going to ring them after work today but for some reason I thought I'd google them before hand & I'm glad I did, had missed calls today & one just now, should have known it was too good to be true!!!!! Never had the chance yesterday to ask them what they get out of this. I don't think I'd have given them any card numbers or anything as the debt is still outstanding & would have be stupid of me!!!
  • To all fellow members.
Last March(2011) my wife was cold called and talked into dealing with this company.they then asked if I had any cards to look at.
Unwittingly I let them talk me round and hey presto,£888 of my money was taken off my card for their services.15 months later and still no joy. After logging onto this site a few weeks ago to get some advice, i have since reclaimed my PPI in two weeks(£3000)directly with the bank they were supposed to be dealing with.At the same time the bank have investigated Consortium Reclaim and are reimbursing my £888 fee as no service has been provided.Last week I lodged a fraudulent claim against CR with the National Fraud Squad and the Ministry of Justice .They have since phoned me back to say there is now enough evidence to proceed with an investigation and will be contacted with their progress.I have also contacted the Ombudsman and given paper work to them to investigate further.
Consortium Reclaim have been told of this and promptly cancelled my contract and I,m awaiting my refund with optimism.
Stay away from this company is my advice and I will not give up until i have all my money back.I even offered to go to Swansea to pick my money up.After all of 15 months my bank said they have never been contacted by CONsortium Reclaim.
    WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Kind regards

  • I am new to this forum, I had a call from CR yesterday eveing. The lady was very polite and chatty so agreed to speak to her manager. I did not give any details at that point. I have talked to their representative today and was trying to read this forum at the same time.

I had confirmed my CC was with MINT and my name that appears on the card, I then realised I was about to sign up so stopped and said I was going to talk to my wife about this.

Is there any way they can take anything off my CC at this stage? I said I would contact them if I did not want to proceed any further. What do people suggest I do next? OOOHHHHHH I think I know.

In order for them to take the money from your CC they would have needed to send you the T&c's first as that is in the MOJ rules. But they don't always play by the rules. I would contact Mint immediately and tell them that NO money is to be paid to consortium as they do not have your express permission to do so and may have obtained your number and so your credit card may have been compromised.

Let us know how you get on..

Contact your credit card company immediately and tell them the money was taken without your express permission and you cannot get hold of these people.

Also report this matter to the police and the Trading Standards.
