I have also been phoned by this company and I asked them to send me details by email which they have done.I have no intention of dealing with them but in their email they suggest that they take their fee from a credit card account which they will then try to make unenforceable. Not only does this sound to me to be morally wrong, does anyone know if it is illegal.0

I was duped by this company as well and I want to get out of it! It started in November 2010 when I was down and going through a bad patch. I have only been contacted twice in that time and that was after I emailed them and said I wanted my money back.
Do you reckon it would be a good idea just to move the balance to an interest free card to clear it or will they penalise me?
I just want to get away from them I'm not even bothered about the claim now I've had enough!0 -
Help I think I have been conned by this company. I got a call from them and they were very convincing and I paid the fee they ask for. They sent me emails to confirm the payment I needed to pay, so I have got some proof from them.
After the call I sat down and thought about what they said and I decided to cancel the agreement. I sent numerous emails to them that I want to cancel the agreement and ask them to acknowledge my emails but didn’t get any replies. So today I phoned them and told them that I wanted to cancel the agreement, they did try to talk me round not to cancel it but I put my foot down. I ask for a refund of my payment which they said would take 28 working days for a cheque to be process and sent.
As anyone who paid the fee got the payment back? If not any help on how to get it back?
Thanks0 -
I have just gotten off the phone to these people, I was going to go ahead ( they spoke to my husband as well) after saying they wanted to put the fee on my credit card of £916.92 to reclaim £2600 I told them my credit card was out of date and hadn't received a new one yet, they said they would ring me back, in the meantime I googled the company and they put me onto this link, after reading the comments I made up my mind up not to do it.
Anyone can start up a web site, even though they said they were registered with the ministry of justice, I've seen it before and my instinct tells me it's too good to be true. They could be a cold blooded murderer for all I know there are too many scams about to act on cold calls.0 -
i paid over £800 for their fee plus a % for the total amount which i owned on my Barclay credit card just over a year now. i have phoned them every 3 months and all i get from them is " were still looking through the paper work to see if they have broken any rules". i'm fed up waiting and would like to cancel my agreement. how long do these cases take and can i kiss my money goodbye? i recently paid my card off so i just want rid.0

£800 is a hell of a lot of money to pay out.
Please write a recorded 7 day letter to Consortium requesting the return of your money since they have not been able to make any repayments on your claim to you and that you will if you do not hear from them make a full complaint to the MOJ if they do not respond within the 7 days with the return of your money.
Also, then writee to your credit card company and find out if they have made any payments directly to Consortium and how much? and also if they received the £800 clearing the credit card account??
Once you have have any furher information can you post up here and I will then be able to advise further.
As far as getting your money back it will depend largely on their T&C's so if you can post this up here we can check out the cancellation process for you.
In the meantime for anyone reading these posts always check out these CMC's out thoroughly before parting with hard earned cash.i paid over £800 for their fee plus a % for the total amount which i owned on my Barclay credit card just over a year now. i have phoned them every 3 months and all i get from them is " were still looking through the paper work to see if they have broken any rules". i'm fed up waiting and would like to cancel my agreement. how long do these cases take and can i kiss my money goodbye? i recently paid my card off so i just want rid.milly88

Do you have an update please??There will always be people saying to use them, but just stop and think for a second. These people posting replies could very well be employees of theirs.
Look at how many people say use them, then take a look at how many say dont use them, it is up to you, it is your choice.
I am speaking from personal experience with Consortium Reclaim, I got suckered in by them, I took the phone call at around 6:30pm on the 13-10-11, they took my details and immediately charged my card, at 7:45pm they charged me their full amount.
I thought about it for a night and rang the following day 14-10-11 to cancel, once again you get passed from pillar to post as to who you are speaking to, they again try and give you the hard sell, so that you wont cancel. After approx 15 minutes, I finally got through to them that I wanted to cancel. I was then informed that it would take 28 days to sort out a full refund.
On a side note, why do you think they do that??
Simple answer, with them holding your money, they are getting interest on it as it is in their account
So I rang back after the 28 days, which was yesterday 11-11-11, after already speaking to my credit card company to find that I had not received my refund. Well what a conversation that was, they gave me the whole rubbish that it had been delayed etc... one woman told me it would take 28 working days. I was then told that it would take a week for them to raise the cheque
So after a very long debate with them they have finally agreed to send me the cheque out on Monday and that I will receive it on Tuesday.
I will let you know if I receive it on Tuesday.
My personal opinion is to not trust this company, again just think why they talk about the delays, if you dont ring up nothing happens, it is not in their best interest to chase it as they are making money off YOUR money.
Companies like this in my opinion prey on the vulnerable, people who are already in a difficult situation, who are looking for a way to ease their financial situation, personally, after being suckered in by these guys with their hard sell, do not have any dealings with them as they will make your financial situation a whole lot worse.
I hope this thread helps at least one person, if it does, then I have done what I set out to achieve
I will keep you posted on my own personal events.milly88

I have just read a thread on another forum where another CMC took the money from the CC before they had a chance to read and agree to the T&C's. They phoned Trading Standards and trading standards had heard of this particular compamy which is also on our radar and within the hour this particular poster received a call from the MOJ. Just waiting on a further update.
But if no response in the 7 days to your letter please feel free to call trading standards in the area to where this CMC is - bet your bottom dollar they have heard of them and will pass your complaint straight to the MOJ.
Also, I have to add that if you paid by Credit Card they have to return this to your credit card.
Also, They have rules and regulations at the MOJ, and this CMC has broken the golden rule that they are supposed to give you time to read the T&C's. This they have not done.hi,

I too was contacted by this company who kept calling me for over 2 weeks, against my better judgement but because they said they were registered with the MOJ i decided to go with them regarding my credit card dept. Boy was that the wrong decision!!!! 8 months on 2 recorded letters, which they did not reply too, and far too many telephone calls to them to mention, i know nothing other than the interest on the £1000 they took off my credit card is getting higher and higher. I have contacted the MOJ twice and have been told by them to now contact my credit card company and request my money back from them as the company as not given me the service i paid for and have also broken the 'rules' by giving me false information. i will do this tomorrow but warn anyone of thinking of going into a contract with them - DONT. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE FOR THIER OWN FINANCIAL GAIN. They will never answer your calls or letters to them and when you do get to speak to someone they just fob you off. Even if i get the money back i will still of lost a considerable amount in interest. I am at my wits end as to what to do and am considering contacting theo financial ombudsmon, any ideas anyone??0
