I totally agree but thanks to the above posts we now are so a big pat on the back for you for helping Tesco preventing r+r's

Surely TE you should be giving "a pat on the back" for preventing OVERCHARGES????????.NOT r&r's!!!!.Your post shows where your priority really lies.:(

    Consider yourself lucky!

I know a store that will watch you scan it, let you get the R&R and just ban you on the way out! (wouldnt mind if it was a TV or Xbox but a £5.97 DVD??)

Not just me its happened to either!

Why do they feel the need to have to provide scanners in some of their stores anyway? If their pricing is accurate just exactly how is this benefiting the consumer? The only benefit I can see is to give the consumer confidence that the products they are buying are correctly priced, but in that case why would you be in a position to doubt the pricing in the first place.....? And why don't other supermarket chains have them?

    I wonder that myself!

The cynical, paranoid side of me would say they were put there when this policy started to catch R&Rers, if that wasnt the case, it seems like it is now.

As you say, what use would they be if stuff was labeled correctly in the first place? In that aspect the scanners are like a big sign saying "You better check the price of that item here as its probably marked up at the wrong price"
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

I was curious to know what reams of stuff they hold about us via our clubcard, after reading the scotsman article mentioned in another thread.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasnt sure where to put it.
I believe it costs £10 or so, thought someone may have been curious.
I Did it once years ago from my then employer (not tesco).
Anyone else curious? (But too broke to spend a tenner)

    Look what I've got ....

I went to my nearest T tonight and saw the Moto Pebl with the 'wrong' offer. Bought £20 worth of shopping and the phone, went to collect it and then 'noticed' that the £20 hadn't come off (but only after I saw the phone box).

Accompanied cs to display, pointed out the different labels on other offer phones in response to arguments of why it hadn't come off. She offered £20, but I refused so the manager was called. After looking at the display himself, he would only offer the £20 as a 'goodwill gesture'. Decided to take it and the phone and phone HO tomorrow.

Was allowed to leave with the evidence though - so will take it on as I haven't contected ho about anything before.

But this prooves that the label does exist ;)

Maybe i'm wrong here but as you took the £20 goodwill gesture, surely Tesco will see this as you have accepted their apology for overcharging you and you won't get a full r&r even if you phone HO.:confused:

I'm sure someone else will be able to clarify this.
I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!

You wouldnt see SPA2K or Constantine making a statement like that, from TE's post it seems to be he/she is happy to have got the info to stop the R&Rs,whereas the priority should be getting the prices right for the vast majority of customers who in many cases do not check their receipts.
  • Regarding the Phones...

Last night there were LOADS up in my local store, all stating that you got £20 off when you spent £40 / £20 in store. (no mention of airtime)

Picked up a Pebl priced £99.97, got all my shopping, paid, and I must have got the only on-the-ball assistantant in there - she told me that she had to put 1p onto my bill (marked on receipt as 'Tesco Mob PLU *' ) as the discount was not coming off any of the promotion phones with the 'spend £x in store' label . This then activated the discount of £20.01.

Never take part payment. Why should you? They overcharged you, you want them to honour their policy thank you very much and it does lead it open for HO to wash their hands with it with the "well, you settled it in store".

You can still take it back for a full refund if you get nowhere (after trying a couple of times with HO, don't just try once)

  • Hi, new to this thread as a poster, generally a lurker. I did get my first R&R a couple of weeks back in the form of finest beef medallions, but it wasn't a straight forward R&R. I initially was told i'd been looking at the price for something else, and so got the money refunded and the goods went back to the shelves, but DH was cross, so went back to the shelf, and the CS woman had actually seen the wrong sign and was about to put them somewhere else until he pointed out where they'd come from, a quick talk with the manager and DH just walked back out with the beef.

Anyway, we're not rip taking Tesco R&R's. We, like the majority are angry that Tesco continue to rip the majority off with the misprice here and there. They're breaking the law every single day, and yet believe themselves to be above the law, because lets face it, who can afford to take Tesco to court? It's the same with all this big names, woolies, argos, etc. They do misprice after misprice and say "sorry was a mistake" and that's the end of it.
So well done to the R&R's.
why TE thinks it so important that he stops R&R's for a company who cares only about profits and not about the law I just don't know!;)
