Personally i hope you DO - I think this will be the only way the refund policy will be changed to come in line with the policies of JS, ASDA etc, - With negative press around the policy im sure it will make Tesco continue with their current plans of reviewing/changing the policy

You might think that commonsense would dictate that the current refund policy is unworkable (a system like Asdas would seem more sensible) but think about what would happen to Tescos if they did revoke the policy. Tescos have become so big and overpowering that they have become the supermarket everyone loves to hate. There would be hundreds of people (conservative estimate) on the look out for misprices ready to report to Trading Standards. From the posts on here it appears that Tesco seem particulary bad at getting their prices correct compared to other supermarkets (I don't know if any factual study has been done to confirm this).

Lets say each store has a hundred items overprice (lets say 5 misprices 20 items for each). I understand that the fine could be up to £2k for each item. So if given the max fine this would be £20k for the store. If this happened at only a 100 stores then this would be £2 million. At the mo tescos can minimise the fines by claiming they have this refund policy.

In the end it may be cost effective for Tescos to keep it. What would be even better would be to employ more staff to get their prices right (or change their prices less often).

As Spa (welcome back) and Constantine prove many users on here appeciate posts from Tesco employees. Humorous, informative and both contribute positvely to the questions and debates on here.

and can I just say that although Hey Dude is not a god he IS the "Zen" master of R & R

    Cheers

Just one more question then, the system that you have on PDA's for finding products, would for example a floor stack of beans (poor example I know) have a special code or anything so that you know it is on the floor rather than on the shelf? Another exmple might be one of those yellow octagonal stands that I've heard so much about in here. Would you be able to see from your system that the product is in a stand like that?

Any particular reason you want so much detail?

As for stores adjusting there policy due to serial r&r-ers this is not acceptable. Tesco need to either remove the policy or honour it unconditionally. Treating customers poorly in case they are abusing the system is unacceptable. It is a Tesco policy, it is not forced upon them therefore they have no reason to complain..

    Completely agree

Tonight cs lady crossed out my receipt guarantee bit, saying "Its not guaranteed, as you have it for free!"

I dont think so, i didnt argue, if it breaks i take it back! :D

Then you will see the "ballistic postman" at the cs desk
    £2051.50 since Oct 25 2006 ;) Make mine a Golden £143.46 :D

  • I posted last night saying that I was refused an R+R on 4 DVD's na 2 Books. I have been on to HO today and woman said that it is NOT the responsibilty of the Mangler to refuse an R+R cos HE thinks I was abusing the policy.

She said would contact the store immediatly and speak to the manager to get my R+R hounered.
She then called me back 5 mins later to say she called the store and it was the manglers day off  . BUT would be calling him again tomorrow and then would call me back

    I wait with batted breath!!!!

TescoEmployee do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

1/. When price changes are made on the database, do stores recieve communication to let them know?
I work for a large high street store and we get a list of all price changes so that we know to change labels at the right time rather than relying on reading about them sometimes upto a week later on the internet.

2/. Do you/your store use an instore location system? By that I mean if I came to your store with a barcode and asked where I would find that product would you be able to bring up some kind of database to tell me where I will find it? And I don't just mean 'aisle 11', I mean specifically, 'aisle 11, 3rd bay down the left hand side' for example? If you do could you describe it please?

3/. Do you have any system that can tell you where SEL's/posters etc are in your store?

Your questions have already been answered by Spa but just on point 2 aswell as the function on the PDA we also have a sysytem at the CSD which will also give you the exact location of a product - This is used when a customer inquires about a product and the sysytem allows you to enter a key word (ie:Beans) and it will bring up all the products stocked by Tesco that match the keyword, The current stock holding of the item in that paticular store, Next delivery due and the product location.

    S
    this overcharge policy is ridiculous
    some manangers use it sometimes
some HO staff honour it sometimes
like we've said before it is company policy so everyone who works for the company should stick to the policy whether they are having a bad day or not
