On a different note. I picked up 4 packets of the Crunchy Sticks, Salt and Vinegar, 150g, sel 60p - till 72p, as posted on the misprice thread this morning (and I have thanked the OP). At CS desk, woman comes back with sel and said I had got the wrong size as the SEL states 125g! I thought 'ere we go!'. So I said they DON'T do any other sizes in this range and the label must have a printing error on it. So she offered the difference? I then got her to check that there was in fact a 150g size on their stocklist - and - lo and behold there isn't one. So obviously the bags are a new size, the 72p reflects the increase in size and the sel's have not been updated yet. Refund finally given with a bit of indigestion/grumbling by the CS. HTHs just in case anyone else gets given this runaround.

I posted that the Finest smoked trout had £3.99 on the pack and £3.34 SEL on Friday - but couldn't scan it then, have done now, and it goes through at £3.34.

Unfortunately, no increase in Gears of War on the xbox 360 - still scans at £37.xx.

Take care with the game of the week posters for the 360 as well - there are two footy league manager games with very similar covers, one was GOTW last week at £37.xx, the other is £39.xx and I picked up the wrong one at first, thinking I was in, only for the penny to drop before I got to the till. So the £39.xx one definately scans at that price, I don't know about the £37.xx one as it was probably looking like groundhog day the way I was going back and forth to the self scanner by then.

I'm not interested in joining in the spats over the TVs however I think there is a general point to be made.

Chubby said his TV scanned at xxx.99 with an SEL xxx.97 and he therefore got his R&R.
He then posted this in the forums.

Others went out and when they scanned the product it scanned at xxx.97 in their stores so no R&R.

People have taken this as evidence that Chubby was making it all up.

I can understand newbies thinking this but experienced people should know better.

There are all sorts of reasons for the misprices and sometimes they are specific to a particular store. I'd expect experienced people to know that just because an item scans at one price in a store does not mean it will scan at that price in all stores.

I have experienced this at least twice.

Once I found a digital camera that scanned £10 more than the SEL. Great. I thought I'm passing two more stores on way home so I'll pop in them too.
Same cameras, same SEL, less than 30 mins apart but they all scanned correctly. I made a detour and tried a further two stores but again scanned correctly.

On another occasion a console game was scanning wrong in one store only, in all others it scanned correctly.

These were stores that usually scan at the same prices. I'm not talking about express or metro stores.

So the suggestion that Chubby can't have got an R&R because it scanned at xxx.97 at other stores simply doesn't hold up. The experienced users should know this.

I have no idea whether Chubby got a free TV or not but lets not give a misleading impression about scanned prices being the same in all stores.

As I've said before there is no way of knowing whats going to happen until you go through the till & pay, what worked for one may not work for others.

    And finally

There a good number of people who have got free TVs.
Another recent one was the Bush 32"LCD which was posted and people went and got.

Not everyone lists all their R&Rs as blatantly as some. Once the misprice is posted many don't mention it again even if they have got it.
For many a high value item such as a TV offers Tescos a good oppurtunity to identify posters on here with the real world hence they don't say too much.

    update RE budweiser.

after speaking to CS girl, Duty Manager, 2 Customer helpline staff and customer helpline duty manager, they still wont agree an out of date SEL is an overcharge, even though it was the only price advertised for the product. they say this is tescos policy - although none of them could point me to where this is.

Phoned trading standards who adviced me to write a letter to HQ. where should i address this to? Customer services advise me to take this matter to the store manager, but i don't think there is any point since he is probably the one that came up with this "policy" in the first place.

Any ideas for a next move.
