Chubby said his TV scanned at xxx.99 with an SEL xxx.97 and he therefore got his R&R.
He then posted this in the forums.
Others went out and when they scanned the product it scanned at xxx.97 in their stores so no R&R.
People have taken this as evidence that Chubby was making it all up.
I can understand newbies thinking this but experienced people should know better.
There are all sorts of reasons for the misprices and sometimes they are specific to a particular store. I'd expect experienced people to know that just because an item scans at one price in a store does not mean it will scan at that price in all stores.
I have experienced this at least twice.
Once I found a digital camera that scanned £10 more than the SEL. Great. I thought I'm passing two more stores on way home so I'll pop in them too.
Same cameras, same SEL, less than 30 mins apart but they all scanned correctly. I made a detour and tried a further two stores but again scanned correctly.
On another occasion a console game was scanning wrong in one store only, in all others it scanned correctly.
These were stores that usually scan at the same prices. I'm not talking about express or metro stores.
So the suggestion that Chubby can't have got an R&R because it scanned at xxx.97 at other stores simply doesn't hold up. The experienced users should know this.
I have no idea whether Chubby got a free TV or not but lets not give a misleading impression about scanned prices being the same in all stores.
As I've said before there is no way of knowing whats going to happen until you go through the till & pay, what worked for one may not work for others.
And finally_Hugh_Jarse wrote:but i've looked thru loads of posts,1000's of pages and can only see the 360notout fella and wilf who actually got onr.theres a lizard bloke who says he got one but thats not write either so people say.Who got them in east london?
There a good number of people who have got free TVs.
Another recent one was the Bush 32"LCD which was posted and people went and got.
Not everyone lists all their R&Rs as blatantly as some. Once the misprice is posted many don't mention it again even if they have got it.
For many a high value item such as a TV offers Tescos a good oppurtunity to identify posters on here with the real world hence they don't say too much.0 -
Good post HermannWe took on Mr T and we won:D

i believe that too herman
there was a gaming comsole scanning at 114.xx but in other stores other people said it was scanning at 94.xx so there is a difference between stores
cant give an explanation why though
unless it has something to do with barcodes
hense the digital radios
those 20 question things
and the cranium family edition al witnessed different prices in different stores0 -
The cranium one is a good example .
Maybe we should give chubby the benefit of the doubt .
But he does need to calm some of his posts down .0 -

I think the console you are on about is the PS2 and it was just the stores that had the long flat display boxes for it that had them scanning at £114, if you see these in any stores now you will probably find the barcode covered up with a number the checkout operator has to enter manually.
Why these barcodes were not updated with the new prices is anyones guess!
A lot of stores now have the smaller squarer display boxes or use DVD cases but surely it cant be that hard to make all the boxes scan at the same price?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Hi there.
Yesterday i was overcharged on Busweiser. Old SEL of £9.98, charged £11.47. anyway tesco would only offer me the difference saying it was their stores policy to only offer the difference on out of dates SEL's.
I phoned the customer helpine and got told this was a general enquiry line and there is nothing they can do over the phone, and i would have to take it up instore.
What should i do? Any help would be very much appreciated.0 -
edit: double post sorry.0

I have also found different prices for the same item in different stores, I got an R&R on Madegasar DVD in one store stickered £7.99 and scaned at £19.99 another store stickered and scanned at £9.99! Individual stores can override prices I believe. I sure Constantine has said this before.
I too also sore different prices for Cranium, I think that may have something to do with how long a product has been on the shelf before it goes into the Discounted 25% off, 50% off, 75% off, 90% cycle until it sells. Some stores may have had them on the shelves for less time hence didn't need to discount them.0
