SW is nothing like atkins and thank god for that! ( If anything its more like GI)
I never thought I would need to defend a way of eating when I was no longer eating that way but here goes :rotfl:
SW red days are very much like Atkins - both of them restrict carbs and are based on the GI - that's what Atkins is all about - not the removal completely of them. The main difference is the control of sugars and the restriction of fruit - something I did miss very much over the years. Not that I didn't eat fruit - it was just berries Eating whole, natural foods rather than processed food cannot be so bad - not a lot of nasteeee kemikuls in natural foods Eating whole, natural foods rather than processed food cannot be so bad - not a lot of nasteeee kemikuls in natural foods
There are many low GI diets around - Paleo Diet (based on the foods that would have been available to Paleolithic man!), The GI diet, South Beach, Protein Power, Sugar Busters, Zone, Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and which ever works for you is the right one
There are many myths about low carb diet plans and they are explained here: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/lowcarb101/a/lowcarbmyths.htm
The Inuit people live exclusively on protein and fat (seal, whale, etc), at least for part of the year and they haven't died out
Maybe it is because of my long term low carbing that I find myself having more green days than red days in a week - I dunno - whatever it is it is working again for me and I for one and not about to fiddle with my new way of eating.
If it works for you then go for it and if it isn't broke then don't fix it Mags - who loves shopping0 Mags - who loves shopping0

Lynzpower - I don't think the skip type snacks are in the directory so you'd have to put them through the syns calculator - the prawn coctail crisps in the directory are just normal ones I think.
I didn't eat much yesterday but none of it was free food it was all synned. However DH and DS had chinese last night and I had a WW meal so it wasn't all bad!NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20

Morning all! I was all miserable for some reason yesterday!! I didn't know what I wanted to eat and even unhealthy stuff just didn't appeal! Soo I ended up eating (green day):
Brekkie - half a tin of beans
Lunch - a pack of savoury rice with carrots, sweetcorn and cheese (HEA)
Tea - a smallish frozen pizza!!!! It had a bit of meat on and not much cheese so will call that HEA&B and it was an 'extra thin' base so hopefully not too many syns there!
Not exzactly the best day ever but atleast I didn't eat that much so if I counted calories (as I used to do!) it would probably be ok but not very healthy!!
Today I'm going to Mum's and will have all 3 meals there. brekkie will be either fruit, yog and cereals or mushroms, tomatoes and toast. Lunch will probably be jacket potato and salad and my money is on roast chicken for tea! Not actually discussed any of this with mum but she's a creature of habit so I can guess fairly easily lol!!
 Have a lovely day all.0

Wow well done MrsM, 10 stone is a huge amount to lose!!
WI for me this morning... 0.5lb loss. I'm not overly thrilled by it, but I guess its better than a gain. Takes me to -4lb in my first 2 weeks on plan. I think things were probably going better until it came to Friday (pizza express leggera (25 syns) + 1 glass of wine and 3 vodka and diet cokes) and then Saturday (tried to be good when out for so ordered chicken salad but it came covered in yummy dressing and served with white  pitta bread. Then it went from bad to worse as ended up eating tea at a BBQ, had sausage, more white bread, potato salad etc). So overall I think i probably ruined all my good work for the week
It made me realise I need a better strategy for eating out though, as I do quite a lot of socialising. How do you all cope with it? My next challenges are tomoro (out for pub lunch with friends) and Weds i'm going to a theme park for the day.0

This is a problem that I have, almost all my socialising with friends involves eating out (or drinking!). We go out twice a week normally. I can get round the drinking sometimes by being the designated driver - I'm not a huge drinker and I have vertigo which doesn't agree well with it either! But the eating part is so hard. I think it's worse cos I'm veggie so the choices are so limited unless I want to live off jacket spud beans and cheese . .

Its hard isn't it? I also usually avoid drinking (I live further from city than most of my friends so usually drive) but its the weekend lunches etc that the problem! I have just been reading the SW website and that seems to recommend a salmon and new potato type option, but obviously thats not very helpful for you. Maybe veggie chilli / tomato based pasta would be better for you?0
