ab7167 - similar issues here. I invested in a huge tub of neutral coloured paint so we can at least seal the plaster before George uses it as a scratching post. I have a couple of tins of farrow & ball that I do the odd feature wall in but properly decorated it is not. May be worth trying freecycle though, do you have any idea how hard it is to get rid of unused paint?

George is still on my knee with her front and back paws wrapped round my left arm and I still haven't started. I am being dictated to by a cat

I am off now. 9.15-9.45, on my own if need be.

Off to hang the wahing out after I've finished my brew!

Dorastar - enjoy Greg Davis - DD2 saw him earlier in the year and said he was hysterical! Her face hurt from laughing!

She and her mate got their pics taken with him afterwards - DD2 is 5'3" on a good day and Greg is 6'7" - what made the photo even more bizarre was that DD2 was in the road and Davies was on the pavement..... she barely comes past his waist!

DH wants to sort out the tip that is the dining room........ DD2 will want to be in their sorting out her photography cos the 1st hour of the exam is on Wednesday.....

Flyladies - you will probably hear the explosion from here!!!!

Something I saw on the As The Workhouse Approaches thread:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3152660

Greyqueen has posted about burying plastic milk bottles in the plot so they act as irrigation devices for veggies: in fact, there's a lot of veggie growing info from people with and without allotments (lotties) which may well help:D

Meanwhile, will be flying as soon as I get back from cooking breakfast, delegating some work (not housework, not that fortunate, rolls eyes) and going to an event in a park in Bearwood. We have a very tall visitor arriving on Wed evening (so need to work on higher shelves:)) and going to Cambridgeshire/ Norfolk from Thurs evening through to Sunday.

Yes, we did exactly that - cheap White paint thinned with water as the first coat to seal. It's not plaster colour, just sort of mottled awful looking. I've had some given to us, so the children's rooms are done and the sitting room. Our hall stairs landing is massive area though, so i think we'll need to buy to make sure we get a colour match. It's a bit depressing, I keep reminding myself the house will be amazing when done (in 10 years or so...)

Sorted coats, 2 on Freecycle, the rest sorted onto pegs and some too small ones put away. Back hall done! OH hoovered it. He thinks I've gone a bit mad this morning with my new flying resolve... Wanted to know if I'd invited people for lunch without telling him!

I so very much empathise with that! We are in year four of a ten year plan that did NOT involve OH changing job and travelling extensively which leaves him too tired to do much at the weekends. I did ask at the weekend (as we were being sprayed by black gunk from a rusted through radiator) if he ever regretted not just buying a new build. ETA - Hall/stairs are huge here too, but we plan to take the biggest wall back to exposed stone, re-do the lime mortar and then leave it as a feature. Epic, dusty job - we have done this in a couple of the bedrooms too.

Essentials are mostly done and I am starting on hot spot targeting now.

Now the sun is shining I realise I am the queen of smear when it comes to windows. I have tried water with a hint of vinegar, windolene, widow wipes. I would love to make a better job of them when I start Mondays list. Any suggestions really welcome. Thanks

I use Method window cleaner (lovely minty smell and a bit eco apparently - one of the low residue, high levels of degradability ones anyway) and microfibre window cleaning cloths. Not a smear in sight.

going to go mad rushing around like maniac to achieve a basic level of cleanliness/tidiness/dailies then off to solihull for shopping, lunch and a trip to the park

    have fun all!
