Congratulations...It's nice to have a happy thread!!!
With my second little boy it was actually my doctor that told my OH that he was going to be a dad at the same time she told me!!!
After I had my first little boy, I was quite content to have an only child (traumatic prem birth etc) and after being a nice size 8 for most of my adult life, I was getting quite upset that I couldn't lose weight!!
My OH took me to see the Doctor as he was concerned about the fact that I couldn't lose weight and I was becoming extremely depressed...She did an exam and advised me that I was Pg...and about 25 weeks!!!! I almost fainted......It would appear that it was a combination of new mother forgetfulness, maternity leave and breastfeeding that had made me irregular and quite frankly it was the last thing on my mind!!!!
I hope you have as much joy and happiness as I have...they may be hard work but in the end they are worth every minute!!!!'' A man who defends himself, has a fool for a client''0 -
Now for the Mummy stuff, are you taking folic acid? If bothersome asap as it greatly reduces the risk of mural tube defects in very early development (many take it while trying to conceive so you may already be). No liver (huge amounts of vitamin A) not too much tuna (1-2 cans a week max) careful with shellfish unless you're very sure they've been prepared properly and nitre-heated. No peanuts ifthere's asthma, ecsma or hay fever in the family. No smoking (either of you) and only the occasional drink of alcohol. If you take multivitamins that aren't specific to pregnancy then stop taking them straight away (too much vitamin A again).
You might find you lose a little weight in the first trimester but this is fine, your appetite might not be great but babies are effectively parasitic in that they'll take what they need from you regardless so you might feel hungry but too squiffy to eat but baby'll be fine and helping it,self to any resources it needs regardless of wether ornotyou might need them too lol.
Now go buy a baby book or 3 and get reading :-) they've all got pictures of the development stages too so you can see how much like a shrimp baby looks at the moment hahaha it even has a tail!"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

You've just managed to make me cry - twice!!!! Really fantastic news for you both. I remember telling my OH, I was just going to do a test as really didn't feel right, and was a week late. Came up positive immediately. He said he knew as soon as he heard me running downstairs, let alone when he saw me with the test in my hand, crying and nodding! Fantastic moment that I'll never forget.0

Thanks so much for all the really lovely messages and advice folks. Its so lovely of you all. It is slowly sinking in, hubby and I are still floating around on cloud 9, looking like cheshire cats. Four preg tests in 2 days and we are beginning to believe it is really happening. I have been ordered not to buy any more. They are flipping expensive things, but who cares when they give you the most amazing news imaginable. We will have to remortgage at this rate.
I have been taking folic acid for a long time now. Also pregnancy vitamins are now on my shopping list. Im not one for shell-fish so that is okay. Wouldn't touch liver with a barge pole, lol. Do love tuna and hadn't even thought that might be a dodgy food. Will definately bare that in mind. Hubby had instructions to pop into Waterstones in his lunch hour and grab some baby books
. One book we wont need is a baby names book. Have had those chosen for months now. That was the one thing we did allow ourselves to plan and think about whilst we were trying to concieve.
Is it normal to faint in early pregnancy? I had a really good nights sleep last night, got up and had a good breakfast and felt fine. Morning sickness has yet to kick in thank god, I have heard it can be quite vile.
I was on the underground this morning, feeling fine, got off the tube and was walking along and suddenly dropped to the floor
. Had all these people hovering round me asking if I was okay when I came round. After a drink of water and a sit down for a bit I felt fine.
Should I get this checked out or just see how I go? Dont want to turn into one of those panicky mums-to-be but also dont want to overlook anything. Hubby gave me a telling off when he heard Id fainted and then carried on with doing my work. Said I should have gone home and put my feet up. Here comes 8 months or so of being wrapped in cotton wool
Any advice very much appreciated.0
