My Organised House Move

  • Well, we were supposed to have completed and started our move today. yet I'm still sat in my house surrounded by boxes :(

The solicitor rang today to say that they hadn't received the signed mortgage deed that we returned first class on thursday. We have sent another recorded delivery to arrive tomorrow and have been told that we will now complete tomorrow.

My car and Mrs Ging's car is full to the brim will boxes etc and the vendor has kindly agreed we can move stuff in tomorrow morning and they start to move out!

This past week has just been a succession of errors and delays from estate agents and solicitors. I can't believe that as someone who has never bought a house before I have had to be ringing and reminding them of what needs doing!

Bed now, hopefully a busy day tomorrow :D:D

    Good luck :)

I was expecting an update to this thread, but nothing from the OP.

However I see that their immediate plans must have worked out the way they intended, because after a search, I see they began a new thread yesterday.

It's in the "In my home (includes DIY) MoneySaving" part of the forum. Should have been organised enough to finish off the 'diary' on this thread imo. Hope their other organising skills are better, as they will need to be when you're a landlord. :)
    Hi all,

Anyone who has followed my threads on the House buying forums will know that two weeks ago the Ging family moved to our new house in the country. Mrs Ging and I have dreamed in the past about our three lovely kids getting to grow up in a tranquil setting not too far from the hubbub of city life and now they are waking up to see cows and sheep in the fields in front of the house :D.

There are three reasons for us being able to afford to move here.
    1) Over the past three years we had committed to paying off a chunk of our mortgage thanks to advice on these forums.
    2) We got the house for £33,000 less than the asking value.
    3) The house needs a lot of work doing to it.

We have now taken out our savings of £20,000 (again thanks to :money:) and been allowed a loan of the same amount from our bank. So our total amount to invest in the property is £40k. The house could very easily swallow double this amount and so the purpose of this diary is to monitor our plans and spending and do do everything the MSE way!!!

As always, advisers, supporters and the down-right nosey are all welcome to follow!
