My Organised House Move

Just went up into the loft - OMG!!!! Packed 5 large boxes but it's going to take forever to clear through this lot. I think our car boot stall will be very full
I'm starting to realise the amount of work there is to be done
.

Thanks MadM. I just know that if I leave all this to the last minute it will never get done! We have sooooo much stuff and can not take it all with us. My problem is that I don't have any real storage space for the boxes once they're packed. I've no garage and the shed, well don't get me started in the !!!! Mrs ging keeps in there!! I could put stuff into our loft room but that means moving everything up two flights of stairs and then having to bring it all back down again
.
Positively though, I've lined up a few viewings of other properties over the weekend and we are aiming to put in an offer as soon as we know that we can definitely get the two mortgages. I also plan to spend some time menu planning from the freezers to run them down. If I could get down to one freezer by the end of June then I'd be really happy with that.

Hi all,
Thought it was time to update you....
Narrowed our choice of house down to three. Decided on the most suitable (can pretty much move straight in) and put in an offer. He refused it and said the lowest he would go for was £5k off the asking price. We agreed on the condition he came off the market and there was to be no more viewings. We agreed and celebrate with a nice bottle of wine last night.
This morning I get a call to say that he allowed another viewing last night and they have also put in an offer to match ours. he now wants us to go to best and final offers :mad::mad:. Basically on the basis that we are not going to be messed around we have refused to move on our offer and are likely to lose the house
.
However, we have been back in touch with the other house to see if £275K is appropriate. They have come back to say they want £285K (marketed for £300K) and we are waiting to see if they will meet us at £280K. For the work that needs doing the figures are very tight however I could see us moving in there are staying forever rather than the 10 years we had originally thought.
All of this is completely blowing my little brain :eek::eek:.

WE'VE JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
In the end we agreed £282K which we are really happy with. I have a call back at midday from our financial advisor to make sure that we can comfortably afford it, which I think we can but I'll wait and see.
Hopefully we would have enough money over to do the work we want to do. We are hoping that by building over the tandem garage we would be able to turn it into a five bed with two bathrooms
Loads to organise now. The decluttering needs to be stepped up a gear and we need to start to market this house for rental.
We're going for another look around on Saturday so will be in a better position then to put an action plan together of what needs doing and when.
All very exciting! Ging x0 -
Morning folks!
Update time!
Mortgages are both progressing nicely. We've had a valuer out for the mortgage on our current house to go LTB. Hoping that he will agree our house value of £240K.
No news from the vendor of the house we are buying. I'm guessing that means that she hasn't found a new house of her own to buy
. Of course the longer it takes for her to buy somewhere the longer it takes for us to move.
Decluttering is going quite well. yesterday we got all the stuff out of the loft eaves and sorted out what was staying/going/selling. We got up this morning at 6am car all packed ready for a car boot sale but it's peeing down so we decided to wait another week.
Started making a budget for our new house. It needs so much work doing to it and I want to make sure that we don't massively go over budget. I know that we will need to get a loan for some of the building work but I really don't want to take out very much so I think we will have to be very thrifty and well organised.

Why not ask the seller of your new place if they would consider going into rented accommodation in order to allow your sale to go through?:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0

What a great idea. Hadn't really though of that. I will give it another week and then make that request. If nothing else then it might speed her up to find somewhere. She does know that we want to be in before the summer holidays though.

If I were selling a house and we were able to complete the sale quickly and for certain, I would move into rented accommodation!:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0

Spoke with the EA and apparently the vendor has an accepted offer on a repossession property. This happened a week ago and they didn't bother to tell us! She can move asap which is great news for us.
Survey back and (apart from the usual) we just need to check that when they had a wall moved it was done properly. Also there is some damp in the house that needs checking out too.
Will get on with that tomorrow. Enjoyed the weather too much today to get anything done!

Two more rental viewings today

Must get some more decluttering/packing done too.
