Washing machine is on and DD (12) is off school with a headache and feeling sick so spent the morning with her.
She is happy tucked up in my bed at the moment so popped on here.
No idea what to make for tea tonight so will probably do egg fried rice or a pasta dish.
Hugs to everybody.
Two more Christmas pressies arrived through the post but with two DDs at home today I cannot wrap them!"This site is addictive!"

Afternoon everyone
Happy Birthday Miss dlb
Get well soon to everyone who is feeling yuck.
DH did the school run this morning so I had a nice lie in and then I nipped to the larger Tesco to take advantage of their 25% off wine. It worked out really well as it didn't look like any of their prices were bumped up and in fact lots of them were £1 off anyway. Splurged on a bottle of champagne which was on special off at £9.99 reduced from £19.99 and got £25% off that tooAdd to that 2 cases of lager at £9.99 and bottles of port and sherry so all I have to pick up now is a bottle of brandy which I will buy from Lidl on Friday.
Ended up popping to Comet and spending £120 but I got a Robosapien, remote controlled KITT, a new telephone with 4 handsets, X-Box controller and a PS2 pack costing £2.99 which includes controller, DVD handset, stand and CD holder. So I'm not too upset about the amount of money I spent in there.
Have a good day all. I forgot to put the chicken in the slow cooker this morning so I think we're going to have a roast for tea. Can I get away with serving baked spuds with that?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Well, my plan has gone a bit out of the window now - OH has just phoned to inform me that the library is having a bumper sale, so am meeting him at 3 to go and have a look. Currently doing my shopping (I :heart2: Fixture Ferrets), so...not sure what I'll do for an hour.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0

Hi everyone!
Oh heck...I've just been reading all the stuff you lot are up to on the Chrimbo flylady challenge...I feel tired just reading it all. Good luck all of you. I'm full of admiration but won't be joining as already do major guilt and working fulltime syndrome very well indeed. I will however, be repainting the bathroom on my days off during the Chrimbo period.
Had a very productive day yesterday and got all the baking done I'd said I'd Sat instead [sat down and watch a Chrimbo video instead on Sat!!] Got all the washing and ironing up to date and have also made flapjacks, a jelly and a Victoria sandwich which is in the freezer.
Today I've put the bin and recycling out, cleaned the sink and loo, made the beds, washed up, tidied round and this evening I will be a good girl and write the Chrimbo cards. I've left them out somewhere very prominent so I can't ignore them. OH is going to bring all the pressies down from the loft this week so we can start wrapping them aswell. My treat at the end of it is to dig out my cross stitch which hasn't seen the light of day since my Chrimbo knitting.
Have finally joined Freecycle so now need to list my bits. Hopefully they will go and leave me with some more storage space.
Nowt much else planned for now...have a great afternoon!

morning... again!
Catznine: you're very welcome, they are gorgeous aren't they!!! (oh and i added a bit of ground ginger to that recipe, i think it helped.)
iwanttosave and susiesaver: specculaas is a kind of mixed spice available in the Netherlands and Belgium (and probably some other countries too, from what Catznine said). Rather like mixed spice is available here, i think. OH said that there was something "missing" from the recipe, a flavour, so i might have to have a word with my MIL to find out what the spices are exactly. Anyway, its just cookies made with that spicy mixture. Olibollen/Appelflappen are kind of like doughnuts i guess.. thats the best way to describe them. If you want the recipe, yell! oh, and yeah, iwanttosave, i'll save you some.. LOL..
hope SnowyOwl, Mrs_Mix and Cheerfulness4 all feel better soon.. pink-winged's description of the goose/roasties made me feel all hungry - especially the roasties..... which reminds me...  at a certain advert for roast spuds in goose fat (one of the luxury ads) shows a bunch of potatoes being dropped into a hot tin of fat, all at once.. i end up shouting at the TV: "NO NO NO!" because if you do that, you drop the temp of the fat and the potatoes don't crisp up. Add them one at a time, slowly, so that the fat has time to regain temp in between potato addings. And ALWAYS ALWAYS parboil, drain and shake to get that lovely crispiness!!!
OH thinks i'm insane.. i'm inclined to agree. (about roasties, anyway.)
anyway, i forgot to mention before i went to bed, last night i did a bag of rubber mince with about 250g frozen beef mince. fried up onions, peppers, garlic, mushrooms and a chilli with mince, bulked it out with some green lentils, then put half of it into the pressure cooker. the remaining half i added some boullion, oxo cube, worcestershire sauce and cooked gently, without adding any extra water. i then made suet pastry and turned the whole thing into a pie, which was last night's dinner (and very very yum it was too). the mince/veg mix in the pressure cooker had chopped tomatoes, kidney beans, cannelloni beans, tomato puree, black olives, boullion, mixed herbs, and worcestershire sauce added to it, which is now in the fridge - i'll cook it up tonight and use half of it to make a cottage pie. the remainder, if i can bulk it out that far, i'll use tomorrow night, with pasta or something. Not bad going for 250g mince!
Other plans today: make bread, make upside down tart tartin with chopped apples (that are on the verge of going) and left over suet pastry from last night (an experiment!), of course, the cottage pie, the christmas runner (from the sewing thread) with matching napkins and the plastic bag recycler. If i get all that done i'll be happy. then maybe tonight i can relax a bit and do some christmas cards while watching the box.
have a good day, everyone!

I've heard goose fat keeps in the fridge for absolutely ages. One place said "forever" but I think that may be a slight exaggeration. I'll have a check"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
hooray - I was actually in for a parcel delivery.
I was beginning to think the delivery men hid round the corner until I left the house.
So DS has a Nintendo DS for christmas.
Off to dig DD out of her bed. I've been very good and productive this afternoon. We'll go and get DS from school and (if he's not too grumpy) we'll go to the park.
Then it's back for dinner (DH isn't in til after 8 tonight (oooh makes him sound like a chocolate)) so I can feed the kids early. Tuna fishcakes I made last week to use up some potatoes."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Afternoon All - Hope we are well
Just a quick one b4 I fetch the kids from the school
OH text me today, asking me to pick him up from work. So at least he talking to me via text. Will see how the evening goes. At least we can kiss n make up - guess thats the fun part.
Was goin to get things done after work, but My mum popped in, yak yak yak, could not shut her up.
So, after the school run, DW to empty and load up, WM & TD to put on, animals to feed, Post office to pay some bills, (dont fancy goin into town) then other half to fetch from work, then dinner. Aswell as uniforms to iron for work/school 2mr.
At least I managed to hoover front room, sweep hall n kitchen before going to work.
Bye for now, catch you later
