You are getting the products for the same price as they are in Asda - by saying you are getting them for pennies you are giving the impression that there is some benefit to buying them in Tesco if they are cheaper in Asda. There isn't other than:
a) you get more clubcard points than if you'd bought them in Asda (bit of a no-brainer really)
b) if your Tesco is closer, you save on fuel (also pretty obvious)
c) if you have no Asda at all nearby, you MIGHT get the product for the same price as in Asda, provided all goes well with reclaim process
antrobus has provided a perfect summary of the whole Tesco/Asda thing now DTD is over, I would follow those simple rules.
If I'm paying £1.40 for a loop of buying Fairy Softener every day until a price change, I am getting x amount for pennies, the number of pennies divided by number of product bought.
Yes, I would get these items for free from ASDA, on a loop. However, with MY train fare, it'd be products for pounds. I'm sure others are in the same boat, as indicated by those on the thread. I fully understand your point, but for my situation, I'd rather these products for pennies, than free from ASDA + daily train fare or an alternative brand for 'full price'.10 Ways to Spend All Your Student Loan In A Week0 -

Anyway, off to bed now. Will go to Tesco first thing and kill a voucher (can I do anything else with them now? Maybe...) as well as picking up some Fairy Softener. Should be dead instore due to tomorrow's events.10 Ways to Spend All Your Student Loan In A Week0

If you are getting it for free does it matter which store you get it from?0

So actually your idea could be summarised as:
If you live near Tesco and it's a train fare to Asda, shop in Tesco and use their price promise to try to get back what you've overpaid.
Otherwise, shop in Asda.
I'm going to give up for the night now, I've a royal wedding to watch tomorrow. Night all.0 -

It does if:
In store A) you:
go in, get the product for nothing and leave.
In store T) you:
go in, get the product, pay too much for it, leave and go home, enter your receipt details, the next day you get a voucher for the overspend which can only be spent in the very shop that overcharged you the first time.
I'd go for store A) myself.
I'm not a huge Asda fan by the way, it would be exactly the same if the roles were reversed. The maths does not work, there is no 'buying things for pennies' other than by using coupons.
Definitely going to bed now.0 -
Haven't had a chance to see if there are any restrictions on tub size for this voucher to work:
http://apps.facebook.com/localheroes/?source=fbpage
but it's £1 off Philadelphia which is £1 in A and £1.75 in T
So if I had a 75p tesco voucher I could use both and get it for free and then input receipt to get another 75p back and do it again?
sorry if this one has been posted before haven't had time to check!28/04/11 - A bad day for shoppers everywhere (Tesco shoppers that is!) RIP DTD :A0 -
My nearest Asda is a round trip of about 40 miles, (and thats if i can get a lift as i dont drive:() so even just getting the difference is better than nothing
It will still be the same as shopping at Asda without paying for the petrol to get there!
So really Its not completely over for me cos i will concentrate on items with a 100% or greater return.
I can still use a £20 voucher and get £10 back Plus i can save a bit more if i use a few vouchers:j
