OS daily thread Thurs 28th April

Hi this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 28th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

DS now has bilateral ear infection and horrible cold so not much sleep here;).
I am also now full of cold:cool:
Not much OS going on here today.
DS doesnt cope well when he is poorly and ABs and calpol etc seem to make him hyper so fun day in store.
DH working late tonight so will prob do bangers and mash for tea so he can heat it up later....or may pull frozen bolognese sauce out of the freezer.
DS has had tomato soup the last 2 nights so will prob have that again.
Just getting through the day will be enough for me today I think.

    have a great day all

NPM My heart goes out to you and poor Noah. It's awful when any kid is sick, but I think in Noah's case it must be so much worse. And now with you getting sick too, look after yourself as much as you can. I hope the ABs kick in for him soon.

I want to go to Tesco this morning early before the kids are up, and do a first ever DTD shop! Nervous, as I usually go to asda and buy the cheapest bargains. I know if this works, it will be virtually free or almost free shopping, but if it doesn't, well........

Will check in later after I go and buy my stuff at tesco. I am taking next months budget today as I sort of feel that I can as it is 28th, and this is the equivalent of a 'free' shop.

Morning NPM & all who cross/follow
Off to work soon, I've finally had a new bench fitted, it's only been 18 months since the old one was removed for no good reason & replaced with 2 very low tables designed to give everyone backache.
Hubby fitted a new door seal to the WM yesterday so no more hand washing for me, woohoo.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

HH enjoy using your washing machine again. I had to put a new catch on the door of mine a while back, and I was so excited using it again after hand washing for weeks!

Thanks for starting NPM, good morning to you, Rosie383, HHester and all,

So sorry to hear Noah is still so poorly and that you've got the cold starting too. Hugs to you both x

Rosie good luck with your Tesco shop.

HH glad to hear you are WM enabled again. Where is the bench?

Cloudy, grey and cool here. It is surprising how quickly you get used to the warm sunshine. Well we made the most of it while we had it. Lots of al fresco eating with friends and family.

The plan today is to make something wonderful out of the left overs from entertaining. Think I will make up some curries.

Hugs to all who need or want,
Happy days folks, cheers Silver x

NPM hugs to you and Noah, hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

Hester-glad your wm is mended-I feel so lost without one.

    Rosie383good luck with the shopping.

Silver I agree-bring back the warm weather-I nearly abandoned my sandals for shoes yesterday!

Well work again today but I am in bed with the lappie atm. It is really quiet this week as a lot of people have taken time off but my students are supposed to be in. Had less than half Tuesday so lets see who turns up today! I will finish my cuppa and have a shower.

OH is in the doghouse as there is a bid model railway exhibition here this weekend and his club is stewarding. Club night kast night too. Right won't see much of him this weekend then!

    Have a good day everyone

Morning all - NPM - what about Medised instead of calpol? That might work if you have any? Only as it helps sleep with a mild sedative so I understand.

Busy day today - so when I woke up I stripped the bed, no tempting me back into it. Going back and forwards to school today - school run, then have to take DS1 for an appointment at 11.30 - taking him back to school, then a quick shop and back for the pick up, then back again at 5.30 to help out with the youngsters disco!! Friends coming tomorrow, so want to get all the house cleaning done today so that tomorrow I can weed the front garden and mow the lawn. OH back tonight and I have some jobs that he can help with tomorrow - putting up the hanging basket brackets so I can put up my baskets of tomatoes!! Also need to cover over my spuds again - they're growing SOOOO quickly. Noticed that my leeks were starting to come up yesterday so have to start watering them so they grow nice and large in their pots. My flower seedlings have also started to pop out - MUST phone the delivery man too as I want loads of bark mulch for the kids play area.

My garden plans are all coming together - but someone (NOT ME!!!) needs to clean the small deck area and the plastic garden furniture. Perhaps I could get the boys and OH on this on Friday with the Power washer. When the children have gone to bed on Monday night I'm going to thoroughly water the grass and rake it through and then sew grass seed. Hopefully I can keep them busy enough to keep them off the grass for a week or two to let it grow. Sounds like I'll be busy this weekend - phew - luckily I have all the bits I need so no buying.

Hope that everyone has a lovely long weekend and that the sun continues to shine for all. Children really excited about the wedding tomorrow.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Good Morning All

NPM - hope DS improves today.

Have a busy day planned. Loads of washing and ironing mainly as we are away for the weekend. Only the essential business work will get done.

Had a very good meeting yesterday - more paid work, very different to what I am doing and looks very interesting.

Will be making chicken stock today so think will have soup for dinner with hm bread. Also have some eating apples that are on the turn so will see if can find time to make apple pie. Normally do make the pasty myself but bought some pastry mixes from approved food as they were so cheap.

Better get going, have a great day.x
