Hi Lois, just trying to catch up

Am loving you're 5 happy things, I may have to "borrow" that. I'm usually quite up-beat but recently have been getting abit down, and I know I've got lots of reasons to be happy.

Looking forwards to reading how the NW5% fits into your grand plan. I was considering the 123 account but all our savings are in the off-set against the mortgage and I think I need to get 3% gross to equal what we save by off-setting so it wasn't worth it. The 5% would be 4% after tax so might be worth considering. Did I read that it was only 5% up to 2,500?

    catch you later

Aaargh! Have just spent far too much money. I went out with the intention of getting trousers for DS, and indeed I got him 3 pairs of nice ones for £9 each, so not bad. He had grown out of all his previous non-school trousers. But then he said he needed a shirt and some boxers and socks as well, and I thought that was fair enough because although DD and I have had clothes recently, I haven't bought anything for DS for ages, so I got those. And then I got socks for myself, because I'm always running out. And foundation (3 of them) because I've nearly run out and my fave kind was on 3 for 2. And some kitchen knives because all but one of my decent paring knives seem to have got lost somehow (actually I think one got broken). And then I saw they had decently large Cadbury Easter Eggs, complete with mug, for a mere £2 each, so I got one of those each for DS and DD and me. And then after paying for all of that I went and filled the car up with petrol.

Still, all of it was stuff that we do actually need and will use, so I don't feel I've been toooo extravagant. Not sure I'm going to have quite as much as I'd hoped left at the end of the month for all these accounts that I've been busy opening, though. :(

Hi Alchemilla and PaddyPaws and thanks for posting. Yes, PaddyPaws, the NW 5% is only for max £2500. If you go over that then you get no interest at all. I'll see if I can put a new version of the plan up soon. :)

Hello Alchemilla, Froggy, MCI, MWC, pink poppy, Radish, tattycath, Tilly & ztan and thanks for thanking.

Hey, something's changed colour in your sig... what is it?

And with NW, do you mean you won't get anything on any money above £2,500, or do you mean if you go above £2,500 you get zero interest on everything?

And don't worry, it's the little things you've been meaning to get for a while that sneak up on your in the shopping, these sound perfectly reasonable and all bargainous to me :)

5 things I'm grateful for (since I'm a stealing wench):

    1. MSE!
    2. Wrapped up in blanket, full from yummy dinner
    3. I'm allowed 5 min break from study to write and dash
    4. I got some work done today so feeling like progress is being made
    5. I'm helping friend with graphic-y things for dissertation and happy I'm helping and practising skills at same time.

    Must dash!

    Hi btw!

    x

EDIT: Just realised none of my words made sense, so fixed it. I'm going to study now, promise!

The FD reg saver is back at 6% if that helps. Pass it along :rotfl:.

Well spotted! I just made it more consistent. Now the mortgage and FLs are all in red, with total owed in brown (similar to red), and then with positives like savings and equity in blue & green.

NW website says you get 0% if balance above £2.5k, so I think that means 0% on all of it.

    Tonight I am grateful for
    1) I have a microwave to save time and effort when I'm tired and it's late
    2) DS now has trousers that fit
    3) DD is making elaborate secret plans for mothers' day
    4) I have found a babysitter for the evening of a friend's birthday party
    5) I got 5p/litre off my tank of petrol

PS Thanks for posting, Calfuray, GG and skinty.
