It's not as fun as it sounds, got problems with my balance/dizziness and keep falling over. Been signed off for a week. Trying to stay busy and make the most of the extra week off by sorting out housey things and catching up on school work.

Ugh - sounds nasty. Hope it gets better soon.

Yes thanks. Actually didn't get round to taking anything for it and it went anyway. :)

    Hello

Only another 3 days to the end of term. :j:j:j

Not much has happened here on the mortgage front - I have got another £25 off FL1, and paid some standard mortgage payments. The emergency fund has earned a few quid in interest, too, but it doesn't amount to much.

The end of the summer term's always expensive, though, so I'm not worrying much. And I've got through several large bills without having to draw on the emergency fund, so I don't think I've done too badly.

    Today I am thankful for...
    1) Finally not being too busy to get on here :D
    2) Sunshine :D
    3) Optician says I can manage without prescription glasses for another year or two but recommends getting some cheapy reading glasses to see if they help stave off the evil day. :)
    4) Summer holidays within sight
    5) Letter from DS's school congratulating him on 100% attendance for the year - well done him :)

Well, the school holidays are here at last. :D

I've been thinking about all you keen MFWs who put loads of effort into surveys and meal planning and all the stuff I'm not very good at or don't bother doing. And then I realised I'd never actually said on here what my main MFW strategies are, so here's my list:

    1) No alcohol (or tobacco).
    2) No clothes, shoes or handbags unless I have completely worn out the thing I'm replacing (shoes reheeled until too dilapidated).
    3) Cheap holidays - mostly in caravan or with friends/relatives. Holiday budget for the year is £500 (including spending money on holiday, but not petrol to get there).
    4) Doing up the house very very slowly, so the cost is spread over a long time.

There. That's better. Now I've typed my strategies out, I don't feel such an amateur compared with all the rest of you. :)

This evening I am grateful for
    1) Not having to get up this morning until I felt like it
    2) Sunshine again
    3) Not having to go to work for another 6 weeks (although I have got some preparation to do)
    4) Kids playing reasonably amicably together
    5) My dad - he's great :)

Hello to Alchemilla, fothers, icontinuetodream, MWC, Nutcase, pink poppy & Radish and thanks for thanking. Nutcase, I don't remember seeing you on here before. Are you new? Always nice to know there are people reading.

Hi Lois, I like your strategy list. I think mine would look very similar, although no. 3 doesn't affect me so much as the kids are now adults and as long as I have R&R time and the weather is reasonable, I am quite content staying at home.

That makes me sound weird doesn't it?

    Happy Holidays :T
