Coventry Building Society CallSave MoneyManager (2) comes with a VISA debit card. It's another good basic bank account. It has better interest rate than high street basic bank accounts.

I have been rejected for a Cashminder account by the Co-op, so I knew my credit rating was bad.
I checked and had one default which I have now paid and also was not on the Electroal Role. So I have now sent off my letter to get back on which hopefully means my rating should improve.
However in the meantime I need a bank account! Even just a cash card so my wages can be paid into. Can anyone give me any advice which to go for... especially since Co-op rejected me. Ideally a simple cash card without a credit check is what I need.
Thanks
this makes no sense when i applied for my cash minder account i had two defaults and was NEVER on the electorol roll, maybe something else made you fail i suppose if you applied to other banks or for some other type of credit and it failed they would show up and possibly count against you.My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

Try the Barclays Cash Card Account, or other basic bank accounts (see a lisf of them here: http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf). Hopefully they will accept you.
You can pay cash/cheque in the branch for the Coventry account at least.0 -

Did you apply for the Cashminder account or the 'current account'?0 -
i reemmber when i first applied about 5 years ago to Abbey for a basic bank account she DENIED that they have such an account even though i got a list from citizen advice saying they do and she went on to apply for a normal current account which obviously was refused i was disgusted because that would have gone on my credit file.
i went back to CAB to tell them what happened they were disgusted by it and told me to try another one.My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

Is this a Basic Current account, or a Savings Account with debit card attached? I can't seem to make out which on their website.
Thanks!
