hi!
was just wondering if anyone could help me, my boyfriend is looking for a new bank account because he has has his current account card cloned and it is being used abroad. his bank are doing very little about it so he wants to go to a different bank.
BUT....
he has a default on his credit rating from two years ago(this has since been satisfied but will stay on his record for a further two years) and seems to struggle finding an account that will give him a card that he will be able to use chip and pin. does anyone have any information that will help?

Well I got accepted to Citibank but when reading up on the account if someone pays cash into your account at a lloyds tsb, it takes 4 days to clear into your citibank account. As I dont have any Citibank branches near me it would have to be Lloyds and that is ridiculously long... so I have gone with co-op and they have already sent me my visa debit card - is not electron and my pin.0

I would recommend a basic bank account. Please see a list of them here: http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/pdfs/bank_accounts.pdf
Out of that website, I would recommend either: Barclays, RBS/Natwest, or Co-op.0 -

Hey all!!!!
I don't know if this is any help at all, but i have a very bad credit rate and applied for a bassic account with Llyods TSB few weeks ago. A few checks and that was that done, just had to wait on acceptance, or refusal.
Anyways, I got accepted, and the basic account from them includes visa debit card, and a cheque book, was well chuffed when i got my account up and runnin,as for the past year i have been using a post office account.

It can't be the basic account because you only get a debit card and no cheque book?0
