why use an account where you are charged to use it? and also a set up fee? its a big rip off! you will get charged if you withdraw your money from a cash machine etc you can get a basic account with a debit card even a visa debit card so in my opinion i would stay away! unless you have money to burn!

  • Good news!
We decided we didn't want to wait for the post to sign the forms, so I took my partner into the Natwest branch, and they ran the application again and he signed there and then.
He was given his account number and sort code, so that we could arrange paying wages into it etc, and 2 days later his pin number and paying in book arrived.. and 2 days after that his cash card arrived!

Will the step account appear on his credit report? And will having it boost his credit score? We were thinking of trying in 6 months to upgrade it to a current account.

It won't prevent you from having a mortgage they show up as current accounts on your credit file anyway.

What will prevent you from getting a mortgage would be adverse information on your credit file.
