You're welcome.
(I realise it probbaly isnt what you were looking for, but if you're worried that they might refuse you if you say why and you dont want to make something up, then just dont say anything. As I said, they dont need to know.)0 -
I think I'm posting on the wrong page, sorry if I am, but I was wondering if there's someone out there who can help please, I opened a Halifax bank current account in 1997 and used it until 1999 when I opened a Nationwide account and transferred direct debits etc into that account, I thought I'd closed the Halifax one until two satuedays ago when I received a letter from a debt agency saying I owe the Halifax £68 pounds and unless I pay it I will be taken to court, The Halifax refuse to speak to me as it is in the hands of a debt agency, I gather it is accrued interest from a small overdrawn amount[about £2] I had on my account from 1999, I've had no correspondance from Halifax during this time, although I moved house in 2003, surely I should have had something I've not even had bank statements since 1999.0

Anything over 6 years since you have made acknowledgement of the debt is unenforceable. The DCA know this and is just trying it on.
Do a search for the 6 year rule on the forums and you'll get lots of info.0 -
Daisy Duck is correct. I believe it is formally called "statute barred". No need to worry.0

I'd like to thank you all for the replys, we've put my mind at rest, I know it's a relativley small amount but to me who hasn't got £68 floating about it seems a lot. Thanks again. Gwyneth0

Hello All.
I have recently set up a DMP with Pay Plan and as part of that process have been tyring to open a Basic Bank Account.
I read here that Citibank are very good and rarely decline anyone - but have recently heard back from them stating I didn't pass their credit checks!
At first I was very concerned that someone who apparently are very flexible when it comes to credit scores had declined me, but thankfully Halifax have allowed me to open a basic account with a Debit card and no OD.
Has anyone ever made use of the Credit score service provided by experian?0 -

This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

I need a little advice please. I've just applied for a new Current Account as I'm fed up with my current bank not giving me an overdraft (not that I want to use it, but that's not the point
)
I was told on screen that I have been accepted in principle for a nice shiny new current account with an overdraft etc etc. Exactly what does "in principle" mean? According to the screen, it said dependent on provision of the required ID & proof of address, so can I assume that this is the case, and that nothing should really go wrong."Oh Bother" said Pooh.0
