I need a little advice please. I've just applied for a new Current Account as I'm fed up with my current bank not giving me an overdraft (not that I want to use it, but that's not the point tongue.gif)

I was told on screen that I have been accepted in principle for a nice shiny new current account with an overdraft etc etc. Exactly what does "in principle" mean? According to the screen, it said dependent on provision of the required ID & proof of address, so can I assume that this is the case, and that nothing should really go wrong. confused-smiley-013.gif
Hello Mrs, which bank was it?

Ah yes, they do an initial check with Equifax then a final decsion maker with Experian, the least they will do is give you a cashline card but that is it, no debit or nowt on the basic account, wait and see what they offer you never know.

Well Norwich and Peterbourgh BS do a basic account with a link card and cheque book, Lloyds TSB do a basic account with a Visa Debit card and cash card but no overdraft, Yorkshire and Clydesdale do a Meastro Debit and cash card also Halfax do an Express cash account with a Visa Electron and cash card.

  • Some instant access savings accounts let you deposit money electronically and give a card to withdraw with, but there would be no facility to have DD's or SO's on the account. The upside is they don't usually credit check for these type of accounts, bad side is that they won't give you a good credit history either

  • Well, Dr Love, that all depends.

Sorry, I love typing that, makes me grin from ear to ear, biggrin.gif despite the fact that my account has just been emptied by some fraudster who's cloned my card angry-smiley-030.gif
