    Hello.

Firstly apologies for not replying to various posts that I have seen aimed at me as the OP of this sticky.

I have not been on MSE for over a month now, but I am making an effort to view the forum at least once a day now.

If there is any information that you wish me to amend, update or remove from the beginning of the thread then please let me know.

@ Sarahsaver .... this is a thread for the discussion of Basic Bank Accounts, if you are having issue with reclaiming bank charges then I suggest you post your thread on that forum. :)
  • Citibank's Access Account isn't a basic bank account - it's not aimed at people who have problems opening a normal current account. It's basic in the sense it doesn't offer any extras like their Plus account does.

A lot of people who have a bad credit history have been accepted by Citibank, although recently (going by people posting on this forum) it seems to be pretty hit and miss.

Citi Plus account - £10 per month.

    Citi Access - no fee.

    Basic bank accounts:

I applied for the Citi Access and I have the all the application pack with me which I needed to send out. But I do not have cheque to draw to fill out the Citi Access account... what should I do now?
  • hi all
need some help and advice on opening a basic bank account
my misses has a postoffice account (the type you have benefits paid into) and now wants a bank account. she thinks her credit score is rough due to her ex and she has a problem with proving her identity, she only has her birth cert, mariage cert and provisonal driving licence, tax credit letters and student card, none of these seem good enough.....any ideas???

Thats what i have been told spinningsheep. I would be interested to know how you get on. As my nearest Branch is in London!!! Dont want to go all that way to be rejected!

Just in case you (or anyone else) were planning to make a trip to London to try and open a ReadyCash account, I wouldn't bother at the moment. I've been trying for the past month, and currently the Yorkshire/Clysdale branch in central London (in fact the same branch as YB/CB are the same company) has just recruited a new banking adviser, but they won't be trained to open new accounts until August. The next nearest, CB in Picadilly, hadn't even recruited one last time I asked.

I've got to the point where I'm thinking of opening the NatWest one instead, but I really wanted the Maestro card rather than just a Solo - I have a full Nationwide Flex account at the moment (with Visa/cheque guarantee card), but I want to take them to court to reclaim about a grand of charges, and my credit rating wouldn't get me a standard account to use as a parachute account (Citi turned me down a few months ago)

    Hi all

Sorry, if this has been covered on this thread already,

I remember some talk in the media a few months ago about a cheque /debit card account for 16 year olds but cannot remember which bank it was.

Can anyone recommend a good account that would allow my 17 year old son to have a debit card?

    Many thanks

Trogit - Is that deffo the case with Clydesdale in London? I've got a Nationwide flex with cash card (which is ok cos I use the free withdrawals abroad quite a bit, but rubbish otherwise) and a Halifax easycash with the Electron (ok but only use for the card), and a cash plus mastercard (good where electron isnt taken but takes a few days to top up), but I'd love to get an account with a Meastreo....But living 30 odd miles from the nearest branch I dont want to go and be turned away cos they dont have any staff.....

    Hi all

This is my first post so be kind please!!!

Ive been following this thread with interest and decided to apply for a citi bank account as a 'parachute' account so I can start my claim against Halifax for charges on my account.

I have a relitively bad credit rating and have recently been refused for a First direct account although I can obtain car finance, morgage, credit cards albeit at a higher rate. As ive recently been refused will this affect my application?

Also do they provide joint accounts as this is what me and hubby have just now and it would be a complete nightmare to sort out all my dd's again?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Great thread and fab site guys:T

Hi, im after a little advice, i got into a bit of a mess with a rbs overdraft, i had a £1500 overdraft with them, and was struggling, so i stopped using the account and i have started a debtmanagement plan, they are paying the rbs towards my overdraft monthly and have been doing so for the last 4 months or so, i was wandering if anyone knew if i could close my account with the rbs as they are still adding charges on for me being over my overdraft, i feel like im going around in circles!! any help on this would be much appreciated
