That account is now called Citibank Plus Account:

Citi's more basic current account (ie: the one you don't have to pay £10 per month for) is called Access Account.

    So,
Access Account is the one someone with a bad credit score should apply for or is Citibank Plus Account also easy to get? Is there a charge for the Plus account?
    Thank you again.

Citibank's Access Account isn't a basic bank account - it's not aimed at people who have problems opening a normal current account. It's basic in the sense it doesn't offer any extras like their Plus account does.

A lot of people who have a bad credit history have been accepted by Citibank, although recently (going by people posting on this forum) it seems to be pretty hit and miss.

Citi Plus account - £10 per month.

    Citi Access - no fee.

Hiya folks. Having been a Woolwich customer for 2 years and been nothing but impressed by them all the way through, I was dreading the full integration with Barclays, as I technically still owe them about £1000 from 6 years ago when I ran up a massive overdraft with them. But, I was called by them the other day (my heart sank at first because I thought the next thing I would hear was that they were downgrading me to a cashcard from my Electron due to previous debt with them) and the lovely lady introduced herself as Karen and she wanted to welcome me as a Barclays customer and to explain some of the benefits etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, they now give internet and telephone banking, and the best bit was yet to come. Today I opened the envelope to my new debit card, which isnt an Electron, its a full Visa Debit Connect card!! I called them to ask if I had to register it, and at the same time asked why they had upped me from an Electron, and was told they have stopped doing them! All customers with Electron will have them replaced with Visa Debit once their current cards expire or have to be replaced. The only difference is they aren't cheque cards, but who cares! Nowhere accepts cheques now anyway! So, if you want a Visa card and you have an Electron with Barclays, accidently lose your card or "damage" it and you will be issued with a Visa Debit card!

Just a quick note, my branch of Yorkshire Bank is over 25 miles away after they decided to close the one in my city, so I called them to ask if I can apply for a ReadyCash account by post or by phone, and they said they have stopped allowing applications that are not recieved in person due to fraud prevention which is fair enough. Just means I will have to trek off on the bus to open the account! Am I right in thinking from what I have read on here, you are okay to be accepted by YB as long as you do not have CIFAS or bankruptcy?

    Hiya,
Is this account you have a Basic Bank Account?
Just asking as the Barclays Basic account says that it doesn't come with a Debit Card at All

Hiya James, no its called the Barclays Bank Account, and the update to a Connect card is only applicable if you already have an Electron card and order a replacement or were a Woolwich customer with a Visa Electron card, not the cash card option. For a whole new customer, a credit score would be carried out. Hope this helps!

Had my shiny new Yorkshire Bank Maestro card today in the post. Very painless procedure, I explained everything to them, and they understood why I didn't want to try for their full account, and they have the option on the screen (I had to help the advisor as she wasn't very good with the system, she was new) to either do a full credit score or just a Bankruptcy/CIFAS check, and they chose the latter. As long as you explain why you want the account and that you know you will fail a full vet, they will not wate their time. Very friendly staff
