CITI BANK NOW WILL BE CHARGING £10 PER MONTH FOR THIS ACCOUNT IS THIS RIGHT

    Yes, this is correct.

From April 1st - the account changes to the Plus account which levies a £10 charge.

They also have the Access account which is fee free.

  • I applied to Co-op over the phone and was told it hadn't declined my application but i may need to provide a few forms of ID as i had not been at my current address that long. I said that was fine as all the bills etc have been transferred now. I got a letter yesterday (2 weeks after applying) which said I had not been successfull. This was for their cashminder account. She provided me with an address to write to but i know what my credit is like so i don't think i'll bother. Has anyone else had this from co-op?

PS - edited cause i put citibank instead of co-op in first post, have now applied for citibank, co-op still sucks though

Both the citi plus and access accounts are current accounts the difference is that the plus account give some more benefits but charge a fee of £10/month and the access account dont give those extra benefits but dont charge a fee either.
So its upto each individual, i.e. if you want those extra benefits then keep the plus account (sterling current account at the moment but will be changed to the plus account on 1st April) and if you dont want those extra benefits its best to shift to the access account so that you dont have to pay the monthly fee of £10.
thanks for your helpful info.....do you still get a visa debit card with either account. I opted for the access account as didnt want to pay the ten pound charge....but dont want just a meastro/electron. Thanks

hi there your well out of co-op they definately suck! i was with them and had a cashminder account, one month there was a delay with my salary being paid in which caused me to have a few returned direct debits. When i knew this had happened i telephoned co-op to explain but they were not having any of it. A few days later i got a letter saying i had 30 days to find alternative banking arrangements as they were closing my account. Telephoned them again and they were quite snotty and told me it was because i had 4 returned direct debits and on that account you are only allowed 3 then they close your account!!! explained it wasn't my fault but they told me to complain in writing, which i did but go nowhere. So your well out of it!

Have seen lots of ads on net etc by companies offering to "ARRANGE"bank accounts for a fee regardless of your status.

A friend of mine paid for this service went into the bank as arranged and was given a full current account, he had been refused in the past.

    How do they do this???
