Natwest branches are good at turning down Step account applications, scoring them as if they are full current account applications. If anyone gets turned down they should consider asking the bank to re-consider.

Thanks for the info on who reports back to the CRA's ... So even though no credit is involved they all report how well you are conducting your account on a monthly basis?

Yes they do - in fact, as many people will be aware, a full current account is harder to get than a credit card.
  • NATWEST STEP ACCOUNT

I sent my application in last week with ID and utility bill, but i made application online, they sent back my utility statement a few days ago and asked for a original bill and then they could proceed with opening account.

I am hoping this means they have approved it and they will send my card etc.

    Fingers crossed

    Thanks.

I do have a Citibank account but I'm not sure if they report good conduct so have applied for a Nationwide Flex account as well ... hopefully, I'll be accepted as I want to build my credit history and it seems a bank account that reports to the CRA's is a good place to start ... :D

    Hi there.........

I am thinking about applying for this account but have a really bad credit score..........do you think i should go for it?

what do i need to take in?

    Thanks
  • Can I just confirm that Halifax and Yorkshire dont do a credit check when you apply for either the easycash or readycash account?

I'm trying to decide which to apply for - is maestro better than electron??

I don't think halifax do, I have a really really bad credit score. 6 outstanding defaults and 1 ccj, no up to date accounts!

Halifax gave me easycash visa electron account straight away.......I applied online and they didn't even ask for ID or anything, I just received my card a few week after applying!

I am unsure about maestro but I haven't had any problems with electron, most places accept it. Infact i haven't been anywhere yet that doesn't accept it

    Hope this helps
