How does one get turned down for a co-op basic account! Applied before Christmas and phoned up today to get an update. Turns out I have been declined but a letter was never sent. Told I can appeal by sending in my 6 year address history. I want to get away from natwest but no bank will take me.0

So just gone and gotten a Nationwide basic account. It's been confirmed and just waiting on everything to be sent to me now. Funny how these are a creditor on my DRO but accepted me.
what is a cashcard though? say I can still use it in shops, online, abroad etc but it's not a debit card.0 -

Metro Bank just perform an ID search for its cash account as far as I am aware
I have a full Metro Bank account without overdraft
some posts on this forum indicate that Santander do not perform a credit search

yeah I noticed they check ID to see if your registered at the address or something, may try them tomorrow as I wanted to avoid getting a cash card.0

The Nationwide site states:
Cash Card account customers will receive a cash card+ instead of a debit card
So is that incorrect now? I know it used to be an electron card.
EDIT: Just looked at images of the card and it appears to be a debit card with cashcard+ written on it. So no real difference then.0 -
CashCard+ from Nationwide is a Visa Debit Card (Full-Auth) that can be used in the UK and & Abroad for purchases but can't be used at ATM's abroad.
The card can't be used where a connection is required to authorise the transaction such at Pay @ Pumps, Train Stations & on Airplanes.David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0 -
What you can't use at a train station? What about the machines I get my monthly travelcards on them.0
