Hi, just a quickie (I hope!) I applied online for the lloyds classic account and got a letter today saying I didn't qualify however I could open the cash account, got a form to sign and return to a branch with my ID and account/sort code were provided on the letter. Does this mean I will definitely get the account or can they, after further checks (as happened with RBS) decline my application for the cash account????
Many thanks
Hi Paula,
I applied a month ago for a Lloyds Cash account online and got the letter through asking me to pop in with some ID. I did that today and my account was opened there and then (well I've got an account number and sort code anyway). It would have been quicker but I couldn't find time to go in there otherwise I'd have had a new account within a matter of days.
My credit rating is truly awful and it really will be a case that if they give me one, they'll give anyone one.0 -
Does anyone on here have a basic account as well as a current account and even a business account with other banks? Or do you just have a basic account?0

I would like to remind everyone who has the LTSB Cash Account that you can also open an Easy Saver account and ask for the optional Cashpoint card. You only need £1 to open the account and you can instantly transfer money to it from the Cash Account using internet or telephone banking and then use any ATM in the UK. I was actually prompted to do this by an adviser when I called one day and it gets around the problem of only being able to use LTSB cash machines. It was great before I was accepted for the Classic Account.0 -
Hi,
Daughter's boyfriend, in the army, wants to open bank account with perhaps a £50 overdraft, nothing larger. Any banks do this at the moment or similar?

Wow I have just ploughed through all of the posts and it seems like everyone has good and bad experiences..
I am thinking of applying for a coop basic, and just wondered if anyone had any recent expereiences.
No over draft wanted, A debit card is needed and the ability to pay cheques in the coop offers via the post office link machines.0 -

I must say having just opened a cooperative bank current accout, I am very impressed actually. Received everything very quickly and they open a savings account too which is linked. I did it so I can pay in at the PO.Best Regards

Thanks for the ultra quick responce.
Do they provide a visa debit or an electron???0 -
Their basic account (Cashminder) has a visa debit card. At one stage there were problems with the card only being recognised as an electron. I'm sure someone will be along to tell you if this has been sorted yet.0

Hi there guys,
I looked at this thread yesterday as my OH has bad credit and isn't on the electoral role. After looking at the reviews & also my sister is with them and recommended them. They are currently with HSBC and having very bad problems (can't even get a student account with them) and want to start moving their accounts & savings. They applied for a Cashminder with Co-op yesterday and the guy did it over the phone & said they would do a credit check! This morning they have been declined.
Having phoned various branches each one says different things as there will be a credit check and there won't be.
Has anyone else had any of these problems? They are going to visit an assistant branch manager to try and sort it out but obviously having a credit search creates issues and in the past old debt (which wasn't theres but an ex partner's) has risen its ugly head, even though they are trying to get a d-link letter together to get it removed.
Thanks for any tips!!
