Thank you, however I would need the printed application form for that and the proof of ID (see my post).

Techhead, what StClair is the quickest and most reliable way in your circumstance to make sure everything gets processed.

The branch can reprint all the paperwork needed, stamp and certify your ID and send it off via the internal mail. It'll be much quicker!
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

As I've said in two posts , it would be if I had the ID!

Well, the situation grows stranger still. I've now had a text saying my new debit card is on the way. So it looks like the not open, open, not open account is now open again.

I've never had a passport, driving licence & or photo ID & I've got 8 bank accounts!

Sympathetic banks in my experience are:
    Nationwide, Co-op & I think NatWest

I've always used my P60, a few bills & wage slips only.
I understand if on benefits a letter from Job Centre or similar plus a few bills will also do.
    Proudly Banking & Saving With:
    The Co-operative Bank.
    Castle & Minster Credit Union.
    Yorkshire Building Society.

Actually, in my experience, most of the better banks are upfront in telling you exactly what ID they will accept. Just check on their website.
  • Yes, I checked their website and also in branch who confirmed I didn't have proof of ID.
This was why I was advised to open it on-line.
Well I'm pleased to say that my opened, not open, opened, not opened account is now officially OPEN. I received the account details in the post today.
So in the end it was worth persevering, but I can't imagine why it took so long and why such contradictory information along the way.

The Lloyds TSB basic account be applied for on the telephone and online and they will id you right away if they accept you will just receive the card and welcome pack.

The card is a proper visa debit but it can only be used at Lloyds Tsb to take out money.

Hi, just a quickie (I hope!) I applied online for the lloyds classic account and got a letter today saying I didn't qualify however I could open the cash account, got a form to sign and return to a branch with my ID and account/sort code were provided on the letter. Does this mean I will definitely get the account or can they, after further checks (as happened with RBS) decline my application for the cash account????
    Many thanks
  • If they are offering a cashcard account then I cannot see how this could go wrong. I went directly for a basic account with LLoyds and got it, but I'll have to cancel it due to an erm oversight on my behalf. Forgot they'd taken over HBOS...

HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland) is part of Lloyds Banking Group, whilst the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) owns Natwest.

I suspect that you're confusing HBOS and RBS. They're 2 entirely separate entities.

It's RBS which offers key accounts.
