Thanks Dizzle, I just hope I don't go back in and they see my credit history and refuse me although I know that this account is'nt supposed to be credit rated. The other thing that concerned me was when I settled an account with another creditor at around the same time, they said that even though I'd paid the balance off (again at a reduced settlement figure) the amount that was actually due before the settlement amount will always show up on my credit files because I'd not paid the whole amount off. Fingers crossed eh!!! hipe you have more luck with Barclays than Santander!!!0

I found out today that Barclays won't ever consider upgrading your Cash Card account to a full account unless you keep a decent running balance in it. Paying in a large amount each month isn't enough it seems.0

How did you find that out? And do you know what qualifies as a "decent running balance"?
Thanks.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -
Lol. I guess it's either an average of the month's balance or is set over a certain amount of previous months, or everyone's would read £0.00 (or a negative amount with overdraft)- the balance when the account was opened.
I'm sure "worst" just means lowest.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -
Hi, don't know if anyone can help me with this, i have a really bad credit rating but have a current account with alliance and leicester.
I have a disabled child who is soon to have his own carer, social services are paying for this so i need to open an account for social services to pay into monthly/quarterly, this could range from £300 - £500 per month, i need statements for social services and a cheque book to pay the carer.
i have applied for a basic account with alliance and leicester but have found out today i have been rejected. i would have thought as we had a current account with them already that would be simple to have a second account??
I need to open this account asap so we can start having our son cared for during the summer school holidays, does anyone know of a bank i should try that would be the best bet for a successful aplication?0 -
Hi all
So I went in to Barclays branch yesturday to open a new basic cash card account and was going through the application process when a marker/flag came up after the system pulled my details through for a previous credit card that I had with them 4 years ago, for which I paid in full at a reduced settlement figure 3 years ago after getting into arrears with them for some time.
Anyway, the guy gave me a number to call, as the department I need to speak to at Barclaycard are only open mon-fri, and I need to confrim with them that it was paid in full and to remove the marker on my file as it is preventing me opening the account, then I have to call the guy I saw at the branch and get him to check it has been cleared and then go back in to finish the application.
Has anyone else had this experience and managed to sort it out?
Also, anyone considering going to Santander, I would'nt bother, I was in their branch yesturday and one guy at the counter was going balistic at the assistant because he'd just switched his account to Santander and could'nt access his money again at the cashpoint.
Having only had my account with Santander 4 weeks (thats why I'm moving to barclays by the way) I cannot make faster payments out of my account as have tested this but can receive them into the account.
My online banking info took ages to arrive, and I had to request my pin number a couple of times, the only good thing is the Visa Debit card.
Ahhh the joys of banking!!! lol
Well, I had a call from Barclays saying that Barclaycard have updated the system and are deleting the marker thats stopping me from completing the cash card account application so am going back to the branch this weekend to see if I can now try again. One thing I wanted to ask though is that could barclaycard ever take money from new bank account even though the credit card was settled (full and final) 3 years ago?
Thanks0 -

If its been settled full and final , then no they shouldn't be able to. Do you still have it in writing that they agreed to a full and final settlement ?0 -
Hi I only have a note that I made myself that it was paid although barclaycard have now noted the files as settled so I assume that they can't take any money. I remember about 3 years ago when I settled this and a few other creditors that one of the creditors said it will only ever show it as being partially settled0

does anyone no if you can open any of these using a provisional license?0
