Barclays are very reluctant to offer me their cash card account, i went to a local branch in rickmansworth and the staff lady who was dealing with me was with a customer before me and was so rude, that customer huffed off-don't blame him.
I went to enquire about the cash card, and she was so rude, trying to offer me a normal account, but i don't wish to be credit searched!!!!!
in the end i left because she didn't want me applying for it, and i only really wanted this account because i was told the debit card looks exactly the same as the debit on the normal current accounts!!!She LEFT me, she LIED, and she made me foot the BILL ! :mad:0 -

You go into branch again and talk to another staff member. Alternatively, you could call them, and request an application pack.
Also, there are other banks which offer Visa debit cards with their basic bank accounts, such as Natwest, RBS, Nationwide, and LTSB.0 -

That is the picture for the old basic account card. the new one is silver like the platinum card except instead of a large 2012 logo in the middle of the card it has a small logo in the top right hand corner.
this is it
and this is the platinum one
and this is the regular current account one.0 -

Thanks for your explaination. I didn't know that LTSB changed the design of their debit cards for their Cash Account. The new design looks better.0 -
For info if anyone's interested. Applied online for LTSB cash a/c Thursday night, welcome pack arrived today. No need for further ID, have banked with them before, so I guess that's why.
Edit - card came today, it's the silver one as other posters have indicated.0 -
Further to MSEs Tweet re Santander
ALL RBS accounts in England will be transferred to Santander over the next year following the enforced sale of those branches to Santander.

Read this huge thread yesterday as i bank with barclays but have an outstanding credit card debt with them, and am desperate to change banks but have serious debt problems and was declared bankrupt 17 years ago!! Today i managed to open a key account with RBS and then found out that next year they may be bought by santander. Wish i'd read the last thread before i went!! Have just tried for a classic account with LTSB.0
