The census is after me?

So I was at home minding my own business when someone buzzed at the door. My dreams of MSEr always hoping for a prize to turn up ;) were shattered when I answered and some Australian girl told me she was there to collect my census form. I told her I hadn't done it yet and she said I should hurry cos she was almost done with her collector job and if I didn't do it I could get a fine of £1000.

So....call me dumb but I didn't know census was compulsory...should I expect the Census people to come after me? How does it work?
I've never done it beforeeee!! Shed some light for me please :D

So you havent read or seen any of the adverts about the census being compulsory then? use your internet to find out rather then asking on here - It will be quicker and more informative

Yes it is compulsary and as you have found out, you can be fined upto £1000 for non completion. It was supposed to be filled in on the 27th March (or as close to as possible).

    See HERE for more info.

done with your telling off? Do you feel better about yourself now?

Yes I have seen the adverts but haven't paid attention to it because I wasn't interested in the least - not interested in giving some other people detailed info about myself. And I didn't think it was compulsory and that they even bullied you with the threat of a fine - infos about myself are mine to share if you allow me to say so!

So this is my explanation, hope it doesn't ruin your state of elatedness and perfection you have reached after replying to my post.

So we can assume that you will not be using all the public services that will be provided in your area as a result of the information the Govt gleaned about the population in your area - like schools, hospitals, new roads - that is so noble of you ! I bet you feel so elated yourself ........................

  • Ozma83 - I appreciate that this feels like the first time you have been involved in the census but actually it happens every 10 years and unless you have just moved to this country you must have been included in a couple before. My kids know about the census and that it is compulsory, they looked at the forms with me and will be able to fill in their own when they are adults.
