Dulux Brilliant White Non-drip Gloss that turns Yellow

Hi all
My hubby and I purchased around 10L of Dulux Non-drip Pure Brilliant White Gloss from our local Homebase around 3 months ago and we proceeded to paint a substantial amount of woodwork (doors, door frames, skirting boards etc) throughout our house.
We had used the Dulux gloss in the past and knew it as a good quality brand of paint that wouldn't yellow over time.
However.. in a matter of weeks all of our hard work was undone and to our horror the woodwork had all turned yellow. It's not just a mild tinge of yellow either - more like we smoke around 50 cigarettes a day (we are non smokers). It looks horrific. I detest any kind of DIY with a passion and knowing that we must now sand down all the woodwork and start from scratch makes me feel sick.
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same problem with this Dulux Gloss.
I am in the process of writing a letter to Dulux (they don't have a direct contact email on their website) to complain about the quality of their paint. I am enclosing a photo as evidence with the letter (it's a shame I couldn't upload it as the end result is truly shocking) I will also be attempting to recover some of the cost to cover the labour required to sand and re-paint all the woodwork throughout the house.
I will keep you posted on the response I receive from Dulux.

We started painting our house using Dulux "once" - for the same reasons as you (good quality brand etc). The attraction of only doing it once was a big seller for me.
I have had to give every wall at least 2 coats! lol... I shan't buy dulux again - you pay the premium and it's rubbish.
I have just finished painting a load of skirting boards with the same non drip gloss white - I hope I do not have the same problem in a few months time. But again - I have to give everything 2 coats, it is so thin!0 -
I wont be buying Dulux again either. I'm thinking of trying Crown next time or maybe even a Wickes own.0

Dear makers of 'Dulux Once',
I think the word you were looking for is 'Twice'.0 -

We have had similar problems over the years with Dulux paints to the point that I refuse to use any of their products ever again. I have however over the last few years become a big fan of Leyland paints after being introduced to the brand by a professional decorator. I have found these to be far superior harder wearing and longer lasting paints. I obviously only speak from personal experience but would recommend this brand to anybody now.0

OP,
I have had the exact same problem with this product, even to the point that I had to double check the tin to make sure I hadn't picked up eggshell by mistake, i am having to go over everything that I painted 2 months ago with Satinwood.

Had similar problems with Dulux. Found Crown vastly better but more expensive then a decorater friend recommended Johnson paint- love it as it covers well and i can scrub the hallway which gets mucky quickly, without having paint come off.If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation0

Yes - we had exactly the same problem when our white doors were reglossed - we had a professional painter come in to do the work and I phoned him when then doors started to turn yellow in places. Apparently this an on-going problem he has been having with Dulux paint - something to do with them trying to make their paint more environmentally friendly a little while ago and this has been the result. He came out, re-painted (no idea if it was a different paint this time) and is sending the invoice onto Dulux for paying since this has happened so often in the last few months he was losing money big time - consequently he phoned Dulux direct and agreed repayment. Might be worth phoning Dulux and doing the same thing as we did?:j0

I can recommend Crown Solo paint. We used to use Dulux Once, but as mentioned, so often it was 'Twice'. Crown Solo goes on really well and (so far) has only needed one coat when ever we have used it. Leyland and Johnstones are good too if you can find them. The only cheapy brand I would use are Wilkinsons paints as they have been ok in the past.
I would write to Dulux and complain. It's not so much the cost of buying more paint as the complete PITA of having to do it again.0
