stilltheone how does this work please? (im useless with computers)0 -
If paypal wont sort the matter, go to the credit card company (assuming it was a credit card you paid with). It sounds like the person who sold you the stuff knew exactly what they were doing. I know that some CC companies can be funny about paypal arguing you got what you paid for (ie a service from paypal) rather than what you paid for (a working version of windows), but you may well be pleasantly surprised.
I've never had any issue with a credit card refunding me. Plus if they get the money back from paypal, you can bet your bottom dollar paypal will get it back from the person who sold it to you! There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0 -
Thanks everyone, will the clean format update work on my PC as it was bought with no OS, unformatted?
It now has a version of Win 7 on it that was either a demo/not for resale/not full version loaded on it (cant check what the problem was as I'm away from home)0 -
Also, if my version is not the full legal version (comes up with a small message in bottom right hand corner of screen 'this is not a genuine copy of windows), would just buying an upgrade actually upgrade my duff version?0

You are not doing an upgrade, you are running a clean install.0
